As far as tours go, it's great to have others to enjoy with. Wake Up was a nice hostel with a great breakfast included the first day. That day I chose to take the ferry to Manly where our tour guide Georgia showed us shopping, the beach, and this great acai bowl restaurant. From Sydney we took the 9 hour train ride to surf x camp in arrawara. The teepee I slept in was so cool. The surf lesson was great...but we only had less than 1 hour surfing in the water, if we wanted more we had to pay more, in the afternoon we went for a walk along the beach with some local indiginous people to learn about the plants of the area and try some, we stopped at the campground to find kangaroo. The food at surf X was good. surf x still hasn't sent us the link for the surfing photos though. Byron Bay is a great surf town, although I didn't surf Wake Up had free surfboards available...I had purchased the option to kayak with dolphins and didn't feel like surfing after that. the town had lots of little shops and restaurants and a walk to the lighthouse and furthest easterly point in Australia. The next day we went to Brisbane, after a koala bushwalk where we didn't see koala. In Brisbane check out Southbank and Queen street after dark.

Going into my first big trip alone I was nervous, but felt at ease once I met the amazing people in my group. The group leader was an even bigger Lord of the Rings fan than me! Going to Hobbiton (a life long dream of mine), learning about Māori culture and seeing stunning scenery like Huka Falls will always stick with me. Rain or shine, New Zealand is beautiful!
- by Tara SaundersDo it! The South tour is incredible - packed with lots and lots of beautiful scenery and fun activities. Had a great time!

the most misrepresented tour EVER wrong company itinerary no starting point or time tour actually went in opposite direction ELLIOT our driver/guide was brilliant MEALS lunch instead of dinner 6 day tour 1st day no excitant Never deal with your company again
- by brian hillBeautiful trip with good hotels. Bus was too old and speakersysteem did not really work and the driver was impossible to follow during his talks. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, but looked unexperienced and not able to lead the group as a tourleader should do. It was too much pressure for him.

The Tour was great. Our Tour guide Alex was even better. Had a swim everyday great wildlife which includes a kangaroo trying to steal our lunch. Great beaches.

Amazing experience! So smooth and fun! Amazing people! Only downside is most of the activities are not included so there’s a significant additional cost. Once in a lifetime trip!

I had a great time in NZ. It was the kind of trip I would have designed on my own. I prefer traveling alone. Just getting on the road doing quick stops. Doing one or two night stands. No time to be bored. The walks and hikes were all unique and engaging. It was what I signed up for. Our guide Vaughan did a great job. Some felt we drove too much. I don’t agree. The road trip is the best way to see the country. We were brought to all the tourist spots, but I’m ok with that. Wish that the van could have been miked better so I could hear in the back when I sat there. Also regret not getting to Roy’s Peak in Wānaka, but that’s on me. A great memory. Highly recommended
- by Albert DiamondThe destinations are as good as (actually more inclusive than) all other New Zealand tours we investigated. However, much of New Zealand is 'closed' for 3 weeks around Christmas/New Year/ Early January, so this may not be the best time to visit. Also, dinners are NOT included (a bonus for me) but some hotels were nowhere near any dining facilities (or even take-outs). The hotel locations should be reviewed.

Great tour and great guide! Would recommend 10/10
- by Antonia RauhThe places we visited are amazing. Accommodation - basic... toilets limited and left to the elements, limited hot water, a bit of a walk from the camping grounds. It is worth getting a tent as it gets cold in the night, the sleeping bags are charged extra. The food was good and cooked by the guides. If joining the tour from Yulara, please note this is a 2 day tour - half first day, full second day, half 3 day.

I would not recommend Haka Tours. I've just provided two pages of feedback directly to them but in summary, there was no organisation while on tour of basic daily plans and activities, and any support from the company when our tour was impacted by COVID was non-existent. Haka's third party providers for activities and accommodation (Haka Plus tour) were great - these (and some great people on tour) were the only reason I enjoyed the trip. Make sure you book any optional/extra activities before you go - very little is included and it's not easy or clear to book activities once already on tour. It is an expensive tour, especially when you add the extra activities, and you do not get the service or passion you would expect from any tour, especially one at this price point.
- by Jenna FergusonWayne, the guide, was excellent! He knew New Zealand and especially South Island and was able to improvise/adhoc when he needed to. I highly recommend him! Haka Tours was average- responded late regularly and somethings fell through the cracks. New Zealand was amazing- diversity was phenomenal and different between North Island and South Island

What appeared to be a great tour on paper, turned out to be pretty ordinary. A number of things should have been done better to make it an enjoyable experience, but a number of issues let the participants down. Firstly, the guide, Rob, while a nice enough guy, was very underprepard for the tour. He had not been on any of the walking tracks for some years, and the notes the office gave him were either inaccurate, or just plain wrong. The walks were poorly planned, two of them feeling like route marches, rather than an enjoyable hike. Rob's knowledge of the geography and fauna and flora was good, but his rcent knowledge of the hikes was poor. Secondly, the hikes were not recently assessed for suitability. The hike to Mt. Robert and Mt. Isobel were treacherous and downright dangerous. A fail for whoever in the company thought these hikes were suitable. Thirdly, lunch options on the last two days were not great. Service station sandwiches just don't cut it when you pay so much for a tour. On a good note, the accommodation was good, especially Lochmara Lodge. The dinners were excellent, apart from the first night which wasn't Rob's fault. Breakfasts were also very good. All in all, a disappointing experience when it could have been so much better with careful planning based on recent experience, and a guide who was prepared.
- by Peter SmithThis trip was everything we hoped for, and more. Our guides, Anna, Ella & Lilly, are passionate and knowledgeable about the environment, indigenous culture, flora and fauna of the area; and even the stars in the night sky. They were friendly and helpful and made this a truly enjoyable experience for us. They also produced amazing meals! The campsites were well organised and we had fun with a group of like-minded walkers. What a way to see a stunningly beautiful part of the country! So many highlights but the night-time walk up Mt Sonder to view the sunrise at the top was fantastic!

Our trip manager started our tour by saying, "This is not an old person tour. If you want history and facts you're in the wrong place." We paid thousands of dollars, if we didn't want to know about the country, we would have done a solo tour. Our driver was more helpful then she was. Most days we didn't get the next days schedule until late in the afternoon, and often that was because we asked. We were booked on incorrect experiences and then when asked about them she acted like it wasn't her fault.

Hope, did everything she could to make the tour as enjoyable as possible. I was disappointed in TRAFALGAR. there was to much downtime. The seven day tour was only 4 days of events. You should have been able to book Milford Sound in advance from Queenstown.
- by Samuel ChamberlinI actually did not travel with Trafalgar but wanted to share what little experience I did have. I signed up for a tour coming up this summer. I was quoted a price for the tour including a single supplement. I paid my deposit and independently booked my Business class air travel to Europe. Then I convinced someone else to join the tour. After all this I was told they would not honor my single supplement. Now I am left with air travel to Europe and no tour. The single supplement is a deal breaker. I have traveled to every continent except Antarctica. I have never felt as fleeced by any company as I do with Trafalgar. Needless to say, Trafalgar is on my "no-fly" list.
