Specifically, what boots will be required to fit crampons on them? are the crampons the mountaineering type that require a rigid soled boot or are they the walking/mini crampons type that will fit most standard boots?
Intrepid TravelOperator•Written November 2025Winter Hiking Boots/Shoes must be insulated, lug-soled, waterproof and ideally well broken in. Your boots must be B1 crampon compatible, which means they are suitable for general winter hiking, with semi stiff mid-sole and more supportive upper ankle part. There is no need for B2 crampon compatible boots on this trip, however, you may bring them if you already have a pair.
