- Day 1
Casablanca to Chefchaouen
Visit Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca early at 8:30 AM before the crowds arrive. Drive 4 hours to the Blue City with a stop in Rabat to see the Oudaya Kasbah. Get some motion sickness pills for the mountain roads to Chefchaouen. Spend your evening walking through the blue-painted medina.

Chefchaouen to Fes
Explore Chefchaouen in the morning. "The blue streets are best photographed before 10 AM when the light is soft and crowds are thin." Stop at Volubilis Roman ruins on your way to Fes. Take water and sun protection since the archaeological site offers minimal shade. You'll reach Fes late afternoon. Pick a riad inside the medina for the local experience.

Fes
Take a guided tour of Fes. "The Medina is a maze. Don't try to navigate it alone. Our guide Hassan knew all the hidden spots and helped us avoid the tourist traps." Visit the tanneries in the morning when the smell is less intense. Bring small change (10-20 dirhams) for bathroom breaks.

Fes to Merzouga Desert
Get ready for a long drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Visit Ifrane, known as "Little Switzerland." Look for Barbary macaques in the cedar forests. Bring carrots if you want to feed them. Get to Merzouga for a sunset camel ride. A visitor notes: "Even in warm seasons, bring warm layers. Desert nights can drop to 40°F (4°C)."

Merzouga to Dades Valley
Watch the sunrise over the Sahara before heading to Todra Gorge. "The road through the gorge is narrow. If you get carsick, sit in the front." Stay overnight in the Dades Valley. Try Riad Gabsi, known for great views and excellent local food.

Dades Valley to Marrakech
Take the Road of 1000 Kasbahs to Ait Benhaddou. Get there early to beat the crowds. Drive through Tizi n'Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains, North Africa's highest road at 7,415 feet. "The switchbacks are intense, but the mountain views are incredible." You'll reach Marrakech by late afternoon.

Marrakech
Start your last day at Majorelle Gardens when they open at 8 AM. For shopping, a traveler suggests: "Shop in the afternoon when merchants are more willing to negotiate. Start bargaining at 40% of the asking price." The tour ends with an optional transfer to Casablanca.

Fes Medina
Spend the full day in Fes with a local guide. Begin at the Royal Palace gates and work your way into the medieval medina. Visit the tanneries first thing to avoid strong smells later in the day. Remember small bills for shopping and practice your bargaining skills. "The medina tours can feel rushed - ask your guide to slow down and take breaks at cafes."

Fes to Merzouga Desert
Get ready for a 7-hour drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, known as Morocco's "Little Switzerland" and look for Barbary apes in the cedar forests. Travel through Ziz Valley to reach the desert dunes of Merzouga. "The luxury desert camp was worth the upgrade - having a private bathroom made a big difference in comfort."

Desert to Ouarzazate
Start with a sunrise camel trek in the Sahara. Pack warm clothes since desert mornings get cold. Take a 7-hour drive through Todra Gorge to Ouarzazate with a stop at Ait Benhaddou kasbah. "Ask your driver to stop at local women's cooperatives along the way - their argan oil prices are better than in Marrakech."

Trip was fantastic. We thought we had a "group" tour, but it was just the 2 of us and a driver. So, it was more flexible than we had planned which was great. Seeing as much of the country as we did in such a short time period was exhausting but well worth it. The Moroccan people were fantastic and very hospitable, the history and sights are amazing, and our driver Ayoub was incredibly professional and friendly. Can't give enough praise for our driver. He was amazing. You really can't "understand" what a 1000 year old Medina is until you are walking around in it. Nothing in the US compares to it or many of the other ancient sites we saw. Incredible trip.
