What people love about Hiking & Trekking Tours in Atlas Mountains
- 3-Day Atlas Mountains Cultural Trek & Valley Stay
Amazing experience ! My guide Youba was the best taking care of me providing and helping me with food, material, everything ! And my stay at the riad was perfect as well, Hassan took care of everything perfectly.
- Trek Jebel Saghro 8 Days
Nice and easy 4 day trek in Anti Atlas Mountains that me and my son did as part of our Morocco trip. We did it as a standalone tour but it is a long drive from Marrakech so may make sense to combine with other activities in the area. Guide Lahce and cook Idir took an excellent care of us the whole time.
- Mount Toubkal Ascent & Berber Villages Trek – 4 Days from Marrakech
We chose the four-day tour in the Atlas Mountains, including the ascent of Toubkal, so that we could spend more time in the mountains. We are very satisfied with our guide Mohammad, who, together with his son, accompanied our group throughout the trip. They took care of everything. The cooks also traveled with us. Perhaps we would have liked a more substantial breakfast (for example, more eggs instead of more bread :) ), but overall, we are happy with everything. Would I recommend Desert Brise to friends? Yes. The entire trip was organized remotely, and the agency representative answered all of my questions. Everything was safe and reliable - we paid for the trip in advance. The driver arrived to pick us up on time, and I always had contact details for a local person Hakim in case any issues came up and we needed assistance. I am truly satisfied with the work of the agency staff.

What are the best times of year for hiking in the Atlas Mountains?
The Atlas Mountains present ideal hiking conditions during spring (March-May) and fall (September-October) when daytime temperatures hover around 20-25°C with clear visibility. Summer brings intense heat at lower elevations while winter transforms higher altitudes especially around Mount Toubkal with temperatures plunging to -20°C. A recent traveler remarked "We were blessed with fantastic weather clear blue skies and amazing views of the Atlas Mountains that stretched as far as Marrakech."
What type of accommodation can I expect during Atlas Mountains treks?
Options range from simple mountain shelters to welcoming gites and authentic Berber homes. Riad Bouchahoud in Tijhza provides private rooms while mountain refuges like Les Muflons near Toubkal offer shared dormitories. The luxurious Kasbah du Toubkal overlooks scenic valley landscapes. According to a recent guest: "The gite was basic but adequate and they provide blankets. The food at the gite is fresh and healthy and the hospitality from the Berber people was incredible."
How challenging is the Mount Toubkal trek?
The Mount Toubkal trek requires strong physical fitness with summit day involving 6-8 hours of hiking starting before dawn. Climbers face substantial elevation changes from 2400m to 4167m.
