What people love about Hiking & Trekking Tours in Atlas Mountains
- 3-Day Trekk from Imlil To Orika /Atlas Mountains
Excellent trip, perfect from beginning to end. Our tour guide was fantastic. Thank you.
- Trekking In Morocco: Toubkal Trek - 3 Days
My family (wife and 3 children ages 14, 10, 9) and I had an absolutely wonderful trek to the top of Toubkal. Communication from View Morocco before and during the trip was excellent. Transfer from Marrakesh was slick and we were picked up in a nice air conditioned 7 seater. Our accommodation in Imlil was comfortable, clean and friendly serving traditional Moroccan breakfast. Big thanks to our guide Rashid who was excellent. He was patient and set the pace just right - at no point did we feel hurried or under pressure to go faster. The trek is tough especially in the energy sapping heat of Aug. Rashid was great with the kids and my 9 year old son seemed to really take to him. I'd absolutely do this again and might consider one of the extended treks encompassing more peaks next time. Big thanks to the View Morocco team for looking after us :)
- Toubkal Climb
Originally I had planned to go on a completely different trip with another company which was cancelled at short notice for Covid reasons. Almost simultaneously I received an e-mail from you advertising a range of trips and the Toukbal mountain trip was a perfect fit - one call later and your very helpful team had put the wheels in motion to see whether I could attend and in a couple of days I was booked on with some very helpful guidelines on what was required. Having just finished this excellent break I would like to say a big thank you to all in Explore - your business has had a tough 2 years and I am absolutely delighted that I booked with you. I doubt that I will do this trip again because the positive memories are so strong that they could not be repeated - but I will absolutely recommend the trip and your company to anyone and everyone. And I will now start looking through your brochure to see what I can do in 2022.
What our customers ask about Hiking & Trekking Tours & Trips in Atlas Mountains
What are the best times of year for hiking in the Atlas Mountains?
The Atlas Mountains present ideal hiking conditions during spring (March-May) and fall (September-October) when daytime temperatures hover around 20-25°C with clear visibility. Summer brings intense heat at lower elevations while winter transforms higher altitudes especially around Mount Toubkal with temperatures plunging to -20°C. A recent traveler remarked "We were blessed with fantastic weather clear blue skies and amazing views of the Atlas Mountains that stretched as far as Marrakech."
What type of accommodation can I expect during Atlas Mountains treks?
Options range from simple mountain shelters to welcoming gites and authentic Berber homes. Riad Bouchahoud in Tijhza provides private rooms while mountain refuges like Les Muflons near Toubkal offer shared dormitories. The luxurious Kasbah du Toubkal overlooks scenic valley landscapes. According to a recent guest: "The gite was basic but adequate and they provide blankets. The food at the gite is fresh and healthy and the hospitality from the Berber people was incredible."
How challenging is the Mount Toubkal trek?
The Mount Toubkal trek requires strong physical fitness with summit day involving 6-8 hours of hiking starting before dawn. Climbers face substantial elevation changes from 2400m to 4167m. Winter climbs need additional technical skills due to snow and ice conditions. One trekker shared: "The summit day was hard work with a 4am start but the views from the top were absolutely incredible - you could see across the Atlas range and all the way to Marrakech on a clear day."
How experienced are the guides in the Atlas Mountains?
The guides primarily Berber locals possess extensive knowledge of the mountain terrain. Their training covers safety first aid and high-altitude trekking with many having led hundreds of Toubkal summits. A recent client shared: "Hassan our guide was excellent - very knowledgeable about the local area culture and mountains. His experience made us feel completely safe even in challenging conditions."
