Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu
You'll land in Kathmandu and get picked up from the airport for the drive to your hotel. Later in the afternoon, there's time to either check out the Alpine Club of Himalaya's office in Thamel or just relax at the hotel. Come evening, a welcome dinner with authentic Nepalese food will introduce you to local flavors and the region's culinary traditions.

- Day 2
Kathmandu
After breakfast, a guided tour takes you through Kathmandu's major historical and spiritual sites, many recognized as UNESCO World Heritage locations. You'll see Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath with its monkeys, and Bouddhanath, one of the world's largest stupas. Later you'll meet other trek participants at the Alpine Club's office to discuss the trek ahead, then return to Kathmandu for the night.

Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
Following breakfast, you'll head to the domestic terminal for an early flight to Lukla. The route over mountains peaks and valleys ends with a dramatic landing at Tenzing-Hillary Airport on its steep hillside. After meeting your crew and handling final preparations, trekking begins through Lukla village toward Phakding. The walk is deliberately short today to help your body adjust to the altitude, and there's an option to visit a nearby monastery if you're interested.

Landmarks Tenzing-Hillary Airport - Day 4
Phakding to Namche Bazaar
The trek moves through pine forests and follows the Dudh Koshi River to Namche Bazaar. Around an hour in, Mt. Thamserku comes into view on your right, and the route passes through quiet woodlands with pine, fir, and juniper. Clear weather might show Mt. Everest above the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. You'll cross five suspension bridges including the famous Hillary Bridge as the trail winds through Sagarmatha National Park, then climbs steeply to reach Namche Bazaar, the main trading hub and gateway to Everest.

Namche Bazaar (Acclimatization Day)
Today is designated for acclimatization and recovery. You can wander through Namche's villages and spend time with local Sherpa communities, or hike up to the Everest View Hotel for views of Mt. Everest. The local museum shows displays about regional wildlife, plants, and the history of Mount Everest expeditions. Staying active during rest days helps your body adjust better to the elevation.

Namche Bazaar to Thame
The trail heads west following the Bhote Koshi River valley with great Himalayan views of peaks like Kongde Ri, Khumbi Yul La, and Kusum Kanguru. You'll reach Phorte first, where a tree nursery started by Edmund Hillary's Himalayan Trust operates. From there, a balcony path leads down to the river, across a bridge, then up a steep section to Thame, an old trade junction on the route toward Tibet through the Nangpa La pass.

Landmarks Phorte - Day 7
Thame to Khumjung
A climb brings you up to the Syangboche airstrip, where the Everest View Hotel sits just above it. This Japanese-built lodge offers high-end rooms with views of the world's tallest mountains. The Khumjung valley spreads out below, ringed by Kongde, Thamserku, and the sacred Khumbila. In Khumjung village itself, you can see the Edmund Hillary School and Khumjung Monastery, which keeps what locals claim is a Yeti's head.

Khumjung to Phortse
From Khumjung, you hike to Phortse by crossing the lower sections of Khumbila. The views take in Phortse peak, Cholatse, Taboche, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kangtanga. Phortse sits in the Khumbu region south of Mt. Everest and sits away from the main trekking paths, making it quieter and more peaceful for your overnight stay.

Landmarks Khumbila - Day 9
Phortse to Pangboche
Today starts with a brief but steep climb, then the trail continues along a ridge toward Pangboche. You'll visit Pangboche Gomba and see the footprints of Lama Sangwa Dorje. The village's houses sit above terraced fields in a large crescent moon pattern.

Landmarks Pangboche Gomba - Day 10
Pangboche to Tengboche
From Pangboche, the trail heads east to connect with the main route toward Everest Base Camp. After descending, you reach Tengboche, home to the region's largest monastery. The location within Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO site, provides 360-degree views of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. The monastery opens at 3pm, and timing may allow you to observe a religious ceremony.

Tengboche to Namche Bazaar
From Tengboche, the descent goes through hillsides thick with rhododendron and juniper. You'll cross a bridge decorated with prayer flags over the Dudh Koshi River, then follow paths hugging steep wooded slopes through pine forests to reach Sansa, a major trail junction. After passing a Chorten and winding through several bends, you'll arrive at an army camp near Namche Bazaar for the night.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla
The trail drops sharply now, and the rocky ground makes each step down demanding on your legs. After crossing suspension bridges over the fast-moving Dudh Koshi and its side streams, the path becomes more level and easier. When you reach Lukla, there's time to rest your tired legs and think back on the past couple weeks before spending the night there.

Lukla to Kathmandu
An early morning flight carries you back to Kathmandu after your time in the mountains. Once there, you can rest or shop for souvenirs, and your guides can assist with both activities. In the evening, a farewell dinner with your agent celebrates finishing the trek successfully.
