We recently completed a 4-day, 3-night Nile River cruise and had an excellent experience from start to finish. Cruising between Aswan and Luxor was a fantastic way to see some of Egypt's most incredible historical sites, including the Temple of Philae, Kom Ombo Temple, Edfu Temple, and the magnificent temples of Luxor and Karnak. The cruise itself was comfortable and relaxing, with friendly, attentive staff who always went out of their way to help. The service, food, and overall hospitality made the journey enjoyable for our whole family. A special thank you goes to our tour guide, Tamer Mahmoud. His knowledge of Egyptian history and culture was exceptional, and he brought every site to life with interesting stories and insights. What really stood out was how wonderful he was with our children. He was patient, engaging, and made sure they felt included throughout the trip, which made the experience even more enjoyable for our family. We left Egypt with unforgettable memories and a much deeper appreciation of its incredible history. I want to leave a very honest review of my Nile cruise experience, because travelers should know what they are actually booking. There were some good moments: the temples are impressive, the Nile views can be beautiful, our guide was kind and active, and we met a lovely group of people from different parts of the world. The waiters on board were also polite, and the room and bathroom were acceptable. However, outside of those positives, I would not do this cruise again and I would not recommend it. First, the atmosphere on the boat was not always comfortable. There were men standing in certain corners of the ship with no clear task, just watching people with a challenging attitude. Maybe they were staff or security, but as tourists we found it uncomfortable and unnecessary. Second, the extra charges are excessive. Besides the amount already paid for the cruise, we were charged USD 32 per person for tips during the stay, plus around USD 100 more for entrance fees and tickets. On top of that, the guide also asks for an extra tip. We did not have cash, so we did not give one, but it creates very uncomfortable and unwanted situations for tourists. Even after the tipping fee had already been charged, the person who carried our luggage to the cabin also asked for an additional tip. We refused, and he left. This constant pressure for tips makes the experience feel unpleasant. The food was regular at best. The desserts were terrible. Egypt is not exactly known for its food, and this cruise was no exception. Much of the food felt reheated, with a lot of vegetables and very little meat. Another important thing that is not clearly explained is that if you want to do the excursions, you will have to wake up at around 4 AM almost every day. This is not a relaxing cruise at all. Also, it does not really feel like a cruise in the traditional sense. The ship barely sails. On Day 1 and for a large part of Day 2, the boat stayed docked in Aswan. This means that if you go to the deck or want to enjoy the pool, you hear endless street noise, traffic and honking until late at night. The air conditioning in our room did not work properly. It did not blow cold air. Combined with the noise of the boat and the 4 AM wake-up calls, sleeping became very difficult. The hot air balloon experience was also frustrating. We were woken up at 4 AM, taken to the location, and made to wait until around 6:30 AM, only to be told that the flight could not happen because of the wind conditions. We returned to the boat at 6:50 AM. If this had been anticipated better, we could have had two more hours of sleep. Finally, this is not directly about the cruise, but travelers should know this. On the last day, check-out was at 8 AM and our car was arriving at 7 PM, so we had many hours to wait around. We went out into the streets of Luxor to find food, and the amount of people approaching, pushing, offering things, asking for money or trying to get something from tourists was overwhelming. This was one of the reasons why we would not return to Egypt. Overall, this experience was only positive because of our guide and the great people we met in the group. Apart from that, the cruise was exhausting, uncomfortable, noisy, full of hidden or additional charges, and not something I would repeat or recommend.Show more

These schedules are standard for nearly all Nile cruise programs in Egypt and are outlined in the itinerary before booking. Regarding the cruise itself, Nile cruises operate according to navigation schedules, lock crossings, and port availability determined by the local authorities. As a result, ships are sometimes docked for several hours or overnight, particularly in Aswan and Luxor. This is normal for virtually every Nile cruise and should not be confused with an ocean cruise experience. We are also sorry that your hot air balloon flight was canceled. Unfortunately, balloon operations are controlled entirely by the Civil Aviation Authority, and flights are canceled immediately whenever weather conditions are considered unsafe. While disappointing, passenger safety must always come first, and these decisions cannot be predicted in advance. With respect to entrance fees and gratuities, these are clearly listed in our tour information before booking. Entrance tickets are paid separately because many guests qualify for discounted rates, such as students or Egyptian residents. The gratuity amount collected onboard is a standard service charge shared among the cruise crew. Any additional tip for your guide or individual staff members is entirely voluntary and based on personal satisfaction. We certainly do not encourage anyone to pressure guests for extra tips, and we will share your comments with the cruise management for review. We are sorry that the air conditioning did not perform as expected. Had this been reported during your stay, the cruise's maintenance team would have gladly inspected the unit or arranged another solution whenever possible. Finally, we regret that your experience in the streets of Luxor after your cruise affected your overall impression of Egypt. Street vendors in busy tourist areas can sometimes be persistent, but they are independent of our company and outside our control. We are disappointed that the experience did not meet your expectations, especially since you acknowledged the professionalism of your guide and the friendliness of our team onboard. I am interested in this cruise. I will arrive in Cairo on the 11th. 3 adults (1 male and 2 female) and 3 kids (girl age 14, age 11, and boy age 9). Please advise how the airline timing and pickup will work. Is there a discount for the kids? I am interested in the June 12th date. Is there a place to store our luggage because we will have to bring it with us.

If I wanted to go to Hurghada afterwards, what would be the best way to do this? I appreciate the tour includes a flight to Cairo, but wondering if it would be best to fly from Cairo to Hurghada or just try to get there from Luxor?

It covers all main visits: Philae Temple, Kom Ombo Temple, Temple of Edfu, Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple. So it is 100 USD total per adult, not 500 USD. Children: 4 years old → free, 7 and 9 years old → 50% of adult entrance fees.

For tours departing after October 7th, 2026, a minimum payment of 15% is required to confirm your booking with Holiday In Egypt. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
