  The tour with Ancient Egypt was fantastic. I can recommend it. There was great communication from the company in particular Salwa. She answered my questions about the itinerary and made a last minute change for me. The trip was organized and had ample time for me to pursue optional tours in Cairo,Aswan, and Luxor. Tarek was the company contact for the portion of the tour in Upper Egypt. I am very thankful to him for providing me detailed information on the costs of each location visited there. That made sure I have enough money and the right credit card to use. Seemed that as the trip went on one place was more spectacular than the last. I cannot describe how incredible the sights were on the entire tour. The Nile cruise was an experience I will never forget. The food was good and scenery even better. I enjoy history and there is plenty of it in Egypt. This leads me to offer my sincere thanks to all of the guides during the tour. One of the important qualities of each guide was knowing people at each site. Whether it was the security or shopkeepers, even the horse carriage drivers, all the guides were welcomed heartily. This was reassuring throughout the journey. I was picked up on time for all locations. Reneh in Cairo was perfect for the Giza Pyramids and the Egypt Museum. The Cairo tour was the only time I was with anyone else. The rest of the tour I had a private tour guide. Imagine that!! Walid was the guide at Aswan and he clearly knew his stuff. He lives locally there and not only is he knowledgeable but immensely proud of the people, history, and heritage. I had opportunities to purchase local items but Walid made it clear that there was no pressure to buy. Though I buy some fragrances/essential oils. The early visit to Edfu went off without a hitch. Ahmed showed up right on time at 0500. We took a fun carriage ride thru the town to the temple. It was crowded first thing in the morning but the visit sure was worth it. Ahmed helped me secure a spot in line at the front. Ahmed (different than the Ahmed at Edfu) was my guide for Luxor. He is an Egyptologist and dressed the part! I don’t know anyone can remember all the details of the many Pharaohs and gods. But he did. He helped me decide which tombs to visit in the Valley of the Kings. I enjoyed the fact that all the guides explained things and then let me explore on my own. There aren’t many signs so guides are really necessary I think. I had no problems with safety. A couple times all the guides were helpful in periodically dealing with some of the more “persistent” sellers. Make sure to bring extra EGP for tips. Ask for quiet rooms in the hotels and on the cruise.Show more

  I highly recommend the Egypt tour with Ancient Egypt Tour company. There are a few people I'd like to highlight from our trip who were the reason why we had a great experience. The entire trip from day one was very well organized by the coordinator Salwa. The driver Joseph/Yousef was extremely down to earth, kind and helpful throughout the trip. The tour guide, Waleed, did a phenomenal job explaining the history of Egypt at all the stops we made. During the Nile River tour, the guide Mahmoud and his drivers were also very welcoming and kind. Mahmoud was also very knowledgeable and informative during the visit. It was our first time visiting and we felt that we left with a lot of valuable knowledge about Egypt's history. I want to end with thanking Joseph/Yousef again because he truly did his best to ensure that we had a seamless trip. Thanks again!Show more

  Feedback on Luxury Cairo, Nile Cruise & Alexandria by Flight , 12-21 March 2023 Summary Egypt offers amazing sights but sadly the arrangements for our tour did not live up to our expectations. Tourradar's 24 hour chat was not available when we needed it. Ancient Egypt Tours successfully ironed out problems, but there were too many unexpected issues which caused stress and wasted time. Be sure you know exactly which hotels you are booked in at (we were twice taken to the wrong one), be aware you may be on eg 5am internal flights and might have sightseeing time curtailed by flight times. Check which type of cabin has been booked for you on the boat as it may not be luxury at all. Driving and vehicle standards are very different to what we are used to. Detail: We were very disappointed to discover that Tourradar's advertised 24hr chat option was NOT available when we needed it (see below). The Tourradar booking form does not allow a 'double' booking, but only a 'twin'. We booked as a couple and were disappointed to be given single beds on occasion. We would like to stress that Ancient Egypt Tours did try to resolve any issues we pointed out to them as quickly as possible. However, some of the issues should not have happened in the first place, and we experienced unnecessary stress. We list a number of issues below in the hope that the tour can be improved for others: on arrival in Cairo, we were met by a driver as promised, however he took us to the wrong hotel and left before we discovered this. We were extremely tired after a long journey, the number on the company's documents was wrong (we later found a different, correct one), and the Tourradar 24hr chat option was NOT available. Had we been told in advance which hotel we were to stay at, this could not have happened. We were offered a Nile Cruise Dinner as compensation, which we were happy with, but unfortunately we were not able to take advantage of it as our return flight from Aswan was delayed. We had chosen flights to Aswan and back from Luxor because we thought this would be the most comfortable and convenient way to travel. On arrival in Cairo we were informed that pickup for our flight to Aswan would be at 2.30am for a 5.15am flight. In Aswan we were once again initially taken to the wrong hotel, however the driver had been instructed to stay with us until we were checked in and the mistake was discovered. Once checked in at the hotel (where we hoped to immediately get some sleep) the driver left after telling us our room would be available in “5 minutes, maybe half an hour”. We had to wait in the lobby for 4 hours before our room was available – a total waste of time. Far from being the most convenient way of getting to Aswan, flying left us exhausted and unhappy. We would have been better taking the sleeper train. Our itinerary had specified the first day in Aswan as being a free day, however we were told we were getting a tour at 2pm. This meant a very rushed tour, because entry to monuments closed at 4pm. Instead of concentrating on the monuments with closing times, we wasted over an hour travelling to the High Dam and back (which has no entry times), almost missing entry to the Temple of Philae. This tour should have been left to the following morning, as indicated in the itinerary. As the itinerary seemed to be changeable, we were not surprised when our guide told us we would be collected at 12.30 the next day as our cruise would depart at 2pm. He helped us check in and told us we had an “amazing cabin on the top deck” and that our guide would be waiting for us at Kom Ombo at 5pm that evening, then left us. We were not on the top deck and our cabin was so small that it does not feature on the boat's website. It wasn't until later that we discovered we were next to the generator, but the boat was full by that point and we were not able to change cabins. Our cabin was extremely noisy and there was a smell of diesel. It was not the luxury accommodation we had been promised. the cruise did not leave on that day, but (as in the original itinerary) was scheduled to leave the next day. Once aboard, we saw that the boat's itinerary did not match ours: we had understood that we would be visiting Kom Ombo and Edfu on one day, then having a whole day in Luxor. The schedule listed on the boat was Kom Ombo on the second day on board, and Edfu and Luxor the next. If a guide was expecting us on the first day, we would not arrive to meet them. We would not arrive in Luxor until 3pm on the third day, and as our flight was scheduled for c11am the following morning, we would not be able to visit the sights we had expected to. Once we realised this, we had to spend most of the afternoon in text communication with Ancient Egypt Tours. There was a satisfactory result, as we were offered two alternative flight times, however this again wasted several hours. In Luxor, our guide had not been told that entrance fees were included in our tour and expected us to pay. When she clarified this with her superior, she had to borrow money from the driver. We were not expecting this to be a private tour as the description mentioned a maximum of 15 people, and met another couple who were travelling with Tourradar/Ancient Egypt Tours who were also surprised to be travelling alone. the description on the website still includes a one night stay in Alexandria. We had clarified before we went that this would not be the case, however this could confuse other potential travellers. Generally, the quality of cars used was not what we expected, and we felt vulnerable due to the nature of local driving methods (borne out by the fact that our car was involved in an accident on the way back to the airport). It would be extremely helpful if Tourradar could provide better clarity on tipping before travelling to Egypt, expecially of what is expected for private tour guides and drivers. We spent far too much time and energy trying to work out what was expected and fair. Overall, there was a lot of wasted time, energy and stress for us on this on this trip, trying to resolve issues that should not have occurred. We are not novice travellers, and usually organise our own itinerary. This tour was supposed to be a one-off treat, leaving arrangements to others who we expected to provide a seamless, quality experience, reducing the stress of organising it ourselves. Sadly we ended up much more stressed and frustrated than if we had organised it ourselves. The programme seemed organised for the benefit of the tour operator rather than ourselves.Show more
