Traveler•Written May 2025What are the key differnces between a private and a group trek? How many guides will we have between us for the private and also how many for the the public?
Zara Tours (Zara Tanzania Adventures)Operator•Written May 2025A private trek is just for you and the people you choose. You decide the date, pace, and who you hike with. It's more flexible and personal. A group trek (also called an open or public trek) means you join other hikers you may not know. The dates and pace are already set, and it's more social and budget-friendly. On both private and group treks, there is usually 1 guide for every 2 or 3 climbers. If you're 2 people on a private trek, you'll likely have 1 guide. If you're 4–6 people, you may have 2 or more guides. On a group trek with 10 people, there could be 3–5 guides, depending on the size and pace of the group.

Traveler•Written January 2025How safe is it for someone under 10 years?
Zara Tours (Zara Tanzania Adventures)Operator•Written January 2025The Kilimanjaro National Park officials determined the formal minimum age to summit, although due to the risks of trekking at altitude, it is not recommended to go on this trek with a youngster.
