  The Raft, Hike and Explore Costa Rica tour was exactly as described, with great adventures and reasonable accommodations at all stops. Transportation was often comfortable and timely, often early for pickups. Our GWA contact, Marianna, was always responsive to our questions and concerns, and adjusted the tour as requested (for example, by booking us on a less-intense section river for rafting). She and others from GWA were also available with ease through WhatsApp during the tour to give us updates as needed. Our final transport/taxi service was very comfortable, and the driver was a extremely informative, which was a perfect way to end the trip.Show more

  We had an excellent time in Costa Rica and loved this trip! Big thanks to Jean Carlo for always being available to answer our questions and provide support as things came up. I wanted to share a few points for folks considering this trip: - We loved that the entire schedule was planned out for us including all transfers and activities. The downside is that there is very little down time to explore on your own. It’s a jam packed trip, which we found fun, but if you like to sleep in a bit later then this might not be the right trip for you. - This is NOT a private tour. While the TourRadar page says private – we do find that quite misleading. First, you are with different guides the entire time so the person who picks up you at the airport, the person that drives you from location to location, the guides for the activities, etc. are all different (which was fine with us). And you share shuttles with other tourists who are on other tours (this was also fine). The big down side is you spend a lot of time in the van picking up people from a bunch of other hotels and dropping people off at other hotels. Sadly, this cuts into the time you are able to explore and enjoy the country. We did not appreciate this part. - No sloths. Do not expect to see sloths on this tour especially since you are in the mountains. However, you can try to find time to visit the sloth sanctuary in Monteverde. - Jean Carlo was always available on whats app with any questions or concerns. If we needed a recommendation for somewhere to eat or if the shuttle was late (which was not common but did happen), Jean Carlo was always very responsive to our Whats App messages. - Last, I will say this is a 5 day tour NOT a 7 day tour.   As mentioned in other reviews, this is not a tour, but a trip where your transportation, hotels and activities are pre arranged for you. If you want a narrated tour, traveling with the same group of people daily, this is not it. With this experience, you share transportation with different people each day to and from the scheduled activity. Most of the guides do NOT narrate during the drive so you receive no information about the towns/areas you are driving through, crops you pass, etc. The drive from the San Jose airport to the hotel, the drive from La Fortuna to Monteverde and Monteverde to San Jose were all private drivers in a van just for our family. We shared bus transport from the hotel in San Jose to rafting 2 1/2 hours away, van transport to canyoning, zip line, hot springs, and horseback riding. All the transportation was clean, timely and excellent. My partner and I traveled with our two young adult children over Christmas. There are many positives about the experience. First, the transportation at every point was excellent. The drivers were on time and the vans were new and spotless. The activities were all professionally lead and we had a great time at each activity. We were not able to raft the Pacuare River as described in the brochure due to the high water level, but they came up with plan B then plan C. It could have been a disappointing day but the guide made it fun and memorable. The Canyoning experience was very intense and very physical. It is not for anyone with health or mobility issues. In the US, tour companies tend to exaggerate the difficulty or danger of activities due to fear of litigation. Believe the difficulty described in the description of the activities in Costa Rica and know the difficulty is downplayed! There were many uphill rocky and muddy climbs for all of our activities. We all go to the gym and are in good shape but found ourselves short of breath daily as we climbed to various points. Without a doubt, the Canyoning experience was the most challenging thing we did and the most fun. The Arenal volcano nature walk was our least favorite activity. It’s a path, again uphill, with many groups with guides doing the same climb. The view of the volcano is lovely but it was lovely without the climb. The park where you walk is still a distance from the volcano. You are not actually AT the volcano site. Not a lot to see in this park area in our opinion. We were taken to Paradise hot springs (after the nature walk) and it was a lovely Christmas Eve, especially after a full day of climbing uphill. There was an included dinner and a singer/guitar player who was really good. In Monteverde, the swinging bridge walk was interesting. We didn’t see any wildlife but the information on the flora was educational and interesting. This was the easiest activity of all, with the least amount of climbing. There is a lovely hummingbird garden at the end and we did see many hummingbirds. The Extreme Zip Line experience was fun. Again the zip line was easy but the climbing between the platforms left many people in our larger group winded and stoppingShow more

  This was a great tour. My 11 year old son & I had a great time exploring the nature of Costa Rica, the excitement of white water rafting and zip lining. Horseback riding was great with awesome views of the canyons. The Tarzan swing is a must do! All transfers were on time, and lodging was great. Highly recommend this tour!Show more

No pointing out highlights during travel, strictly activities, which were all good except the horseback riding was below average.Show more
