Charges for additional accommodation will depend on the hotel categories you wish to stay in. We will work to provide the relevant facilities upon your request.

How do I change my itinerary during my journey?

You cannot change the itinerary that you have already agreed upon. But, you can change your pre chosen sightseeings in the itinerary according to your preferences. Furthermore, if you wish to stay at the hotel premises reserved for you in destination B instead of staying at the hotel premises reserved for you in destination "A", the hotel charges at destination "A " will not be refunded to you.

What are the best network connections in Sri Lanka covering all locations ?

To name a few of the network providers in Sri Lanka, Dialog, Mobitel, Airtel and Hutch are well known. Sri Lanka's most popular and largest network providing partner is dialog. But what is more appropriate for a traveller, as of the best coverage is Hutch. On arrival, travellers can buy sim cards from the counters in the airport according to their preference.

How much does food cost and is it too spicy?

From a standard restaurant, lunch/dinner buffet or an ala carte can be bought for around 10$-12$. Rice along with Sri Lankan cuisines are available in plenty of shops much cheaper than standard restaurants but those are too spicy.

Can I pay foreign currency for archaeological sites and national parks entrances?

Major archaeological sites such as Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura accept foreign currency and all national parks only accept Sri Lankan currency. So you can avoid inconveniences by having both currencies with you.

What is the best place to change my foreign currency?

Mainly you can change from any bank at the airport arrival terminal and authorized agencies in major cities.

Can I use my credit or debit cards for local sites?

It is very difficult. Card payments cannot be made at any local sites controlled by the government agencies. For example, Elephant Orphanage/National parks, Sigiriya fortress etc. Card payments can only be made at certain stations for tourism activities promoted by private agencies. The best way is keeping cash on hand.

My husband and I traveled from Northern California to explore Sri Lanka for around a month. The planes, trains and automobiles getting there was long, but it was worth it! We enjoyed having Ruwan as our own private driver so that we didn't have to worry about renting a car and getting from place to place safely. The roads and the drivers reminded me of a video game from our childhood named Frogger. You’ve got the cars, trucks, vans, tuk tuks, motorcycles and lastly the roto tiller tractors made into vehicles! It was a competition for space on the road in the most interesting dance. Especially watching out for the rice that was being dried on the roads… We had a printed itinerary that we referenced each day and the transitions from hotel to hotel were effortless. The variations of the activities offered in this tour were good and we picked and chose which ones we visited as we went. This is an active tour so keep that in mind; hiking and walking all over the Country each day. It was a good mix of coastal areas and mountains, cities and then the rainforest. Some beaches were better than others and some had really good swells to play in. We could have done without all of the leeches in the rainforest or all of the needed mosquito repellent applied every day or the alcohol rules that differed all over the island; but those make the best stories and we will remember them forever. The nature and wild life we saw was beyond words and absolutely amazing. Elephants casually walking down the road and sometimes blocking the road waiting for their sugar cane payments. We saw all the different monkey species hopping from tree to tree. Oh my gosh watch out for the monkeys, they are very sneaky and have tempers! We witnessed them getting into peoples bags - they take what they want - it can be food or just normal items. Make sure you bring the correct plugs for Sri Lanka as some hotels have one and some have the others. You will need the G, D and M plugs and we bought the one we needed from one of the towns for like $3.00 USD. Overall we had a great time and the people of Sri Lanka were very genuine, generous and welcoming to us Americans. Thank you Ruwan for sharing your Country with us and giving us the best tour ever. Payment information
- For any tour departing before August 21st, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after August 21st, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with showlanka tours. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and showlanka tours will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
