Remember to bring socks since temple floors get very hot by midday.

Sigiriya & Polonnaruwa
Stay in Sigiriya to explore the Cultural Triangle. Get to Sigiriya Rock Fortress by 7 AM to avoid crowds and heat. The climb has 1,200 steps and gets tough when it's hot. Visit Polonnaruwa's ruins the next day and take an evening safari in Minneriya National Park. Leave at least 3 hours to reach the airport because traffic is unpredictable. For night flights store your bags at a day hotel and visit Pettah Market or the National Museum.

We have just come home from doing the Sri Lanka Island Classic Tour with Mango Vacations. We had a fantastic time. The animal safaris were a huge highlight. In Sigiriya we were able to see so many Elephants up close. It was such a great experience. In Yala we saw three, three!!! Leopards. So lucky. The tour was paced well, our guide, Vishwa was exceptional. He was informative, super helpful, nothing was too much. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with wonderful people. The food is so delicious. This tour has something for everyone. We highly recommend it to other travellers interested in culture, history, nature and breathtaking scenery.
