We found Mango Vacations to be very unorganized. Before we had paid for and booked the trip, our questions were answered in a timely manner, but as soon as we had booked the trip and they had our money, it took days to get a response back to our questions. Sometimes not even at all. Once there, we found out that our itinerary had changed, due to the cyclone that had taken place weeks before, which was understandable, then we were given updated ones, but then that was not followed, so we had no idea what we were doing. And instead of our guide advising us the day before of what to expect for the next day, we had to make sure to ask many questions of what the plan was for the next day, what we needed to be prepared for clothes/shoes wise if we were doing hiking, visiting temples and needing to be covered, if needed to pack a backpack for the day, etc. Some days a lunch break was not factored in so we would be starving by the time we would get back to the hotel at night, and we hadn't been advised of this so we could have prepared and brought food. Any time we asked about how long travelling in the van we would be, the real time was always at least an hour or two longer than what we had been told. Our guide spoke English very well, so a language barrier was not the issue. Just poor organization. I have done many tours all over the world and the guide always updates the group the end of the day about what to expect for the next day as well as puts it in a group chat, just so you have all the information to refer back to. Nothing like that happened on this tour. I would not be booking again with Mango Vacations. And from talking with the other people on the tour no one else was happy with how it was organized either. But other than that, we made the most of it and saw some beautiful sights.

Mango Vacations 14 Day tour December 2025 Our tour of Sri Lanka was excellent. Our guide Thili was very knowledgeable about the locations, the culture and traditions, whilst our driver Pavi was a considerate, safe but quick driver. The all inclusive tour was a wonderful mixture of religious sites, wildlife safari’s, trekking and river cruises, whilst staying in fabulous hotels and eating lovely food. Thank you Mango Vacations for organising such a fabulous tour and we have taken away lovely memories of Sri Lanka.

Our 14-day honeymoon in Sri Lanka with Mango Vacations was incredible. What really stood out was their exceptional flexibility — adjusting routes, accommodation, and plans in real time based on weather and road conditions, and ensuring everything ran smoothly despite flooding. Impressively, the alternative bookings ended up being just as amazing. Our guide Thilina and driver Pavi were both professional, respectful, and incredibly accommodating, always going above and beyond to make our trip comfortable and stress-free. Highlights included Sigiriya Rock and the elephant and Yala safaris. As Buddhists, we also deeply appreciated Sri Lanka’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage, especially in places like Anuradhapura. Highly recommend Mango Vacations for a truly personalised and well-managed Sri Lanka experience.

We travelled during a time when a cyclone hit Sri Lanka, so a lot of our planned tour had to be cancelled or rescheduled. Despite this, the tour company handled the situation really well and did their best to make the most of a difficult situation, being very accommodating throughout. Our tour guide, Vish, was fantastic — super relaxed, friendly, and incredibly helpful. He made what could have been a stressful trip feel calm and enjoyable, always flexible and positive despite the circumstances. We really appreciated his attitude and support and would happily recommend him.

    Asked on December 30th, 2025

Which parts of this tour have been most affected by the November cyclone and what will the itinerary be likely to look like for the April tours

    Tour Details
    • Mango VacationsOperatorWritten December 2025

Following our update from Mango Vacations, the November cyclone has had limited impact on the itinerary. The only section affected was the train line to Ella, which sustained some damage. An alternative scenic train route is currently being organized and can be included in the itinerary. The damaged section of the Ella train route is expected to be fully restored within the next two months, well ahead of your April 2026 departure. All other parts of the tour were not affected, and destinations, hotels, excursions, and road transfers are fully operational and running as normal. For the April 2026 tours, the itinerary is therefore expected to run as originally planned, with either the standard Ella train journey reinstated or a suitable alternative if required, ensuring no loss of experience.
