  Can you please confirm that is we book the Classic Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu - 4 Days tour that it will be on Circuit 2.

    Unfortunately, Circuit 2 at Machu Picchu is already sold out for October, including your requested date of October 18th. At the moment, the available option we could include with your Salkantay Trek would be Circuit 3. If visiting Machu Picchu specifically with Circuit 2 is very important to you, we would recommend considering postponing your trip until December, when availability is more favorable. However, if you would like to keep your October travel plans, we can certainly organize the trek including Circuit 3 and make sure the rest of your Salkantay experience is arranged accordingly.

    We do have availability for the 4-day Salkantay Trek on the date you would like to book, with entry to Machu Picchu through Circuit 1A, as Circuit 2 is currently sold out. Circuit 1A allows you to access the upper part of the archaeological site, including the iconic Guard House, from where you will be able to take the classic panoramic photo of Machu Picchu. In addition, this circuit includes the hike to the top of Machu Picchu Mountain, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the entire sanctuary. Circuit 2, which is currently sold out, is one of the most requested options, as it allows you to take the classic photo from the Guard House and visit some of the main temples within the archaeological site, such as the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the Main Temple, as well as the urban and agricultural sectors.

  What is the difference between the 4-day and 5-day Salkantay Trek? It seems only Llaqtapata. Can you please confirm/explain?

    Yes, you are correct that the main difference between the 4-day and 5-day Salkantay Trek is the visit to Llaqtapata, and this difference begins on day 3 of the itinerary.
    In the 4-day Salkantay Trek, after waking up in Collpapampa, you continue to Lucmabamba for lunch, and then travel to Hidroelectrica, from where you walk to Aguas Calientes.
    In the 5-day Salkantay Trek, after arriving in Lucmabamba, you hike up to Llaqtapata, where you spend the night. Then, on day 4, you descend to Hidroelectrica and continue walking to Aguas Calientes. On day 5, you visit Machu Picchu.

    We would be happy to clarify the available circuits at Machu Picchu for you. At the citadel, there are currently three main circuits:
    
    Circuit 1 – Upper Route: This circuit offers panoramic views of Machu Picchu from the upper terraces and includes iconic viewpoints such as the Guardian House. It involves more stairs and higher observation points.
    Circuit 2 – Classic Route (Sold Out): This is the most complete and most popular circuit, as it combines upper viewpoints with access to the lower archaeological areas, including the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana stone, and the Royal Tomb. Unfortunately, this circuit is no longer available.
    Circuit 3 – Lower Route: This circuit focuses on the lower sections of Machu Picchu, allowing closer views of residential areas, temples, and water fountains. It generally requires less climbing.
    If you would like to enjoy a more complete visit to Machu Picchu, we can also offer you the combination of Circuit 1 + Circuit 3. This option allows you to experience both the panoramic upper viewpoints and the lower archaeological sectors. For this alternative, the additional cost would be USD 80 per person.

    Yes, the Machu Picchu Mountain add-on corresponds to Circuit 1A.
    This option includes:
    Circuit 1B, which gives you access to the panoramic area of Machu Picchu
    The hike up Machu Picchu Mountain
    Yes, we would personally recommend this option, as it allows you to enjoy both the panoramic area of Machu Picchu and the ascent to Machu Picchu Mountain, where you will have beautiful panoramic views of the sanctuary.

  I am really interested in this hike but noticed it is no longer available for the dates that suit my itinerary. I was wondering whether you would consider adding an extra person into your group for the hike departing either on 22 or 23 May 2025, please?

    Currently, we already have group departures scheduled for May 23 and May 25. However, I must inform you that entry tickets to Machu Picchu are already sold out for May. We can still offer you the Salkantay Trek experience without the visit to Machu Picchu on the last available date. Additionally, we can offer you the opportunity to switch and join the 4-Day Inca Trail departure on May 25, where entry to Machu Picchu is still available.

    You should bring a small daypack, plenty of water, and waterproof clothing for the trek. Rental options for sleeping bags and trekking poles are also available.

  can I book for two adults from my account? Is there availability leaving cusco on may 30th 2025(29th could also be an option). how big are the tents? (how many people?). Are there WC tents included - or can you add this option? what gear do you recommend to take? (hike boots, or trail shoes? wet weather gear etc?). can you recommend hotels in cusco for day before and day after the tour? 3 or 4* with private bathroom prefferred. which entrance ticket is included to Machu Picchu? does it makes sense to purchase the additional machu picchu entrance tickets? what is the difference in the two other entrance ticket types? what is the cost difference if we make the tour privately?

    Yes, you can book for two people using your account. We have a confirmed group departure on May 27. For May 29 or 30, we can organize a private tour. We use Eureka tents designed to fit four people, but for comfort, we assign them to two participants per tent. We provide a portable toilet tent. For May, we recommend mountain trekking boots with good grip. We can arrange 3-star hotels for $95 USD per night. The package includes Machu Picchu – Circuit 2. Additional hikes to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain cost $75 USD per person. A private service costs $1,390 USD per person.

    When would you know if the group tour will take place on May 29 or 30th? We can maybe push forward our itinerary to start on May 28th. I am concerned about cutting short our acclimatization time in cusco. We prefer the group tour. I want to know about the entrance time regulations and train schedule back to Cusco.

    To confirm a group for May 29 or 30, we would need to place your reservation on the waiting list. The safest option is May 27. You can stay in Machu Picchu for about 2.5 to 3 hours. The train back is usually booked between 14:55 and 15:20, arriving in Cusco between 19:00 and 19:30. It's best to book train tickets 2 to 3 months in advance.

    We have confirmed your booking for May 27th and purchased your Machu Picchu (Circuit 2) entry ticket. We will notify you about availability for May 29 or 30. Changing dates would require a penalty as Machu Picchu tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

  Do we have the pass for Machu Picchu? What is exactly Huayna Picchu Mountain / Machu Picchu Mountain? If I take one of these, is there a difference during the trek or my group? Have you ever done this trek? Do you maybe have a request for me to do in Peru?

    Yes, the package already includes the Machu Picchu citadel entrance tickets. Huayna Picchu mountain and Machu Picchu Mountain are extra hikes that you can do after the guided tour in Machu Picchu citadel. Huayna Picchu is the iconic peak behind Machu Picchu, a steep, adventurous hike (2-3 hours) with narrow trails and stunning close-up views. Machu Picchu Mountain is a taller, less steep mountain on the opposite side. The hike is longer (3-4 hours) but offers panoramic views of the citadel and surrounding valleys. You will have time just for one of the mountains. If you do not do the extra hikes, other people can explore Aguas Calientes and wait for lunch there.
