Frequently Asked Questions
- What cultural differences should I be aware of when visiting Nepal?
As a multicultural country, Nepal respects people of all faiths, creeds and cultures and definitely expects the same from the visitors too. There are no such restrictions or limitations on your activities, except those considered illegal and immoral. That being said, public displays of affection are somewhat unacceptable in Nepal, and in order to feel comfortable and attract fewer stares, females may wish to wear long sleeves, especially in more remote areas.
- Can I pay by card in Nepal?
Most places in the city will allow you to pay by card, however, there will usually be a surcharge of around 4% on top of your billed amount.
- Can I withdraw money from ATMs in Nepal?
ATM counters are relatively common in cities and will incur a charge of about 4 USD per transaction.
- Can I exchange other currencies in Nepal?
Nepal Rastra Bank decides the exchange rate, however, when you exchange the currencies in a money changer, you will get lower rates than those listed on the bank’s website.
- What currency is used in Nepal?
Nepal uses Nepali Rupees. 1USD will be more or less equivalent to 100 Nepali Rupees, however, exchange rates fluctuate every now and then.
- Where will we eat in the mountains?
As this is a group trekking adventure, everyone will eat together. Breakfasts and dinners will be provided at the guesthouse and lunch will be taken along on the trek. Breakfasts are included in Kathmandu and Pokhara, however, lunches and dinners will be left up to you. There will be plenty of opportunities to find good places to eat.
- How are the rooms allocated?
This tour runs on a twin sharing basis. Solo travellers will be roomed with a fellow group member of the same gender, and if this option is not available then you will have a room to yourself. To guarantee a private room you will need to select the single supplement option for an additional cost. Please note that single supplements are only available during city stays.
- Can you tell me more about the accommodations?
While in the cities you will be staying in good tourist class hotels, with the option to upgrade for an additional cost. Please contact our Travel Experts to arrange this. During the trek, the group will be accommodated in basic guesthouses.
- Do I have to carry my own luggage?
There will be supporting staff members to carry your luggage in the mountains and you will have a porter between two people. Please remember to pack as lightly as possible for the mountain. Items not needed for the trek can be kept in the hotel. All you will need to carry is your daypack with essentials such as drinking water, energy bars, sun cream, camera, and any other stuff that you will need during the day
- Do you provide an equipment/gear list?
As this is an adventure trekking tour, you will need to have the proper trekking gear. A comprehensive gear list will be sent to you after you book the trip, and we highly advise making sure that you have all the necessary equipment.
