    Asked on April 7th, 2025

Looking at the Five Stans of the Silk Road from Almaty to Ashgabat. The website shows a price of $7,200 but when I look at that date it shows $8,600. The Discovery of Central Asia-5 Stans is more expensive but seems to include meals, flights, etc... not sure which will work the best for our group and/or if there is space available.

    Tour Details
    • Exodus Adventure TravelsOperatorWritten April 2025

    Asked on February 4th, 2025

How much do you recommend we have for additional meals? We cover 5 countries. Is money readily available for foreign bank cards (Canadian) in ATM's? Should we be applying for a Turkmenistan visa asap? Is there a single supplement? If so, how much? Is sharing with another single a possibility?

    Meals
    Payments
    Single supplement
    Visa
    • Exodus Adventure TravelsOperatorWritten February 2025

For additional meals, we recommend bringing at least US$300 for meals not included and US$150 for souvenirs, drinks and other incidentals. Budget approximately US$8-US$10 per meal with a drink, or US$15-US$20 per person per day. For ATMs, foreign bank cards may not always work in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. ATMs in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan sometimes accept foreign cards, but it's safer to carry cash, especially US dollars. For Turkmenistan visa, apply as soon as you pay the deposit. Single supplement for 10 June is 1058USD, and we offer option to twin share with another same sex solo traveler.

How many people are in the group? What about the visas?

    • Exodus Adventure TravelsOperatorWritten May 2023

Our guided small group holidays are normally 8-16 people. A smaller number of guests creates a good group dynamic. The trip notes include detailed information about visas, primarily for UK passport holders. Other nationalities should check with their relevant embassies.

Is this trip a good option for a solo traveler?

    Travel Support
    • Exodus Adventure TravelsOperatorWritten May 2023

As a solo traveler, you will certainly enjoy exploring Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan & Uzbekistan with our group. We get many solo travelers who sign up for our tour. Our group make is always a good mix. We can even share how many travelers there are on a specific departure if you're curious. Looking at our September 2023 departure, there are 10 people signed up and 4 are solo travelers. Of course, September 2024 is over a year away so we are unable to confirm how many there will be on that specific departure. So far, 5 people are signed up.

    • Exodus Adventure TravelsOperatorWritten January 2023

The latest news we have is that Turkmenistan is expected to restart accepting tourist visa applications this month. It might not turn out to be quite as soon as that, but we're expecting it to be open again before this trip runs later in the year. The first departure is scheduled on the 3rd of June.
