Spring and fall bring comfortable temperatures around 20-25°C perfect for exploring outdoors. Hotels like the Empire in Rome and UNA Vittoria in Florence offer good availability during these months. A recent TourRadar traveler shared: "Visiting Rome in September was perfect - the weather was still warm but not too hot and the crowds were manageable at major sites like the Colosseum and Vatican."

What are the must-see attractions on the first days in Rome before heading to Tuscany?

Start with the Vatican complex including the Museums Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. Follow this with visits to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Tour operators like Wonderful Holidays UK provide skip-the-line access to these popular sites. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The Vatican Tour was amazing and combining it with the Colosseum/Forum tour gave us a perfect introduction to Rome's history before exploring Tuscany."

What are the typical first-day activities when starting a tour in Rome?

Many tours begin with a food walk through the Trastevere district where visitors can taste local specialties and explore small shops and trattorias. Evening activities often include a traditional passeggiata through the historic center followed by dinner at places like Roscioli Restaurant in the Jewish Quarter. One TourRadar traveler said: "Starting the tour with the food walk in Trastevere was perfect - it really helped us understand Roman cuisine and culture from day one."

Wine tours connect visitors with family vineyards like Casale Polegri near Baschi and established Chianti wineries in Gaiole. Programs often include tastings in San Gimignano known for Vernaccia white wine and visits to Brunello di Montalcino estates. Accommodation options focus on wine properties like Castello di Spaltenna in Chianti or Villa Il Poggiale in San Casciano. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The wine tasting at Casale Polegri was a highlight - learning about the family's history while sampling their wines made it so special."
