Cambodia is the same, focused on the war as a tourist attraction. We were so depressed that we asked our tour guide to take us to a museum of their heritage instead. Thailand was more modern but the journey to Phuket was very long. On the last two days of my trip to Phuket, breakfast was an outdoor buffet with lots of flies and cockroaches around the food. I got sick from food poisoning. There were a lot of mosquitoes. My return was very difficult due to the food poisoning, but I thank Emirates Airlines for taking care of my health.
