    Tour Details
    Transport
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten July 2025

While away from Cusco, the bulk of your luggage will be stored at your hotel. If you're hiking the Inca Trail or the Quarry Trail, the evening before you leave Cusco you'll receive a small duffle bag to carry your clothes in for the next four days (5kg maximum). Your team of porters will carry these bags for you, together with the food and equipment for the trail. You won't have access to these items until the end of each day, as the porters will always be ahead of the group. A day bag that has easy access to water bottles (external side pockets) or a day pack with a built in hydration bladder is recommended. This bag only needs to be large enough to hold the few things you need during the day (hat, water, camera, snacks, rain jacket etc)

    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten February 2025

We can certainly assist with booking pre or post-tour accommodation, but please note that this will only be provided at the starting and ending point hotels of your main tour. For day tours in Sucre and the Salt Desert, I recommend checking out Urban Adventures, as they offer great options for exploring these areas.

    Asked on November 27th, 2024

I am a solo maturer traveller (63) and would prefer a room to myself. Is this an option for this tour? If so, what would an estimated cost be?

    Accommodation
    Age Range
    Single supplement
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten November 2024

A single supplement is available if you'd prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement excludes Day 18 (Homestay) where you will be in shared accommodation and is subject to availability. If you would like to have this added on please let us know at time of booking, the additional cost would be AUD $905.

    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten November 2024

The tour is suitable for a wide range of ages, and the physical difficulty is rated 4 out of 5. This means the tour involves some physical activity, so it's important to consider your comfort with walking and moderate physical exertion.

    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten November 2024

We can provide you with a transfer quote, but please note that we do not handle flight bookings at Intrepid, so flights will need to be arranged from your end.

What kind of luggage do we need ? Backpack ? Is the inka trail availabel?

    Tour Details
    Transport
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten August 2024

Most travellers prefer to take a small to medium wheeled suitcase, which is a great size for the packing capacity in our private vehicles. Whatever you take, be mindful that you will need to be able to carry your own luggage, handle it at airports, take in/out of accommodation and perhaps even walk short distances. Generally speaking, we recommend you pack as lightly as possible. You'll also need a day pack/bag for activities and day trips. In terms of weight, airlines generally allow a maximum of 20kg for check in luggage. Inca Trail permits are sold on request basis only. Once deposit is paid and passport details provided, Intrepid will endeavor to secure a permit for you. If Inca Trail permits are unavailable by the time you book, you can opt to hike the Inca Quarry Trail instead. The Inca Trail closes in February to allow cleaning and restoration works. If the trek portion of your trip starts in February you will be automatically booked to hike the Inca Quarry Trail.

There is a lot of walking and not very many included activities on this particular trip. If you want a more inclusive tour experience I would recommend our Comfort level trip Peruvian Pathways or our Premium Peru in Depth with Ica Valley trip instead, as a Premium level trip will offer the most inclusions.

Is it possible to book rooms for 3 people?

    Accommodation
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten April 2023

Accommodation on our tours in twin share rooms; if booking in groups of 3, one of the travelers will be allocated a room with someone of the same gender. A single supplement is available From an extra $865 if you'd prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement excludes Day 18 (Homestay), where you will be in shared accommodation and is subject to availability.

hi, we have a few questions! I hope you can help us! and I hope there are still spaces for those dates as they are the only dates we could go (so please advise us if the 17th SEptember tour is already full!)

      questions:
      1) on the 11 hour bus to Arequipa and the 11 hour bus from Arequipa to Cusco, are there toilets on the bus?
      2) on the bus from Desaguadero to La Paz on Day 20, are there toilets?
3)is the Isla Ballestas day trip included in the price?
      4) is the motorboat to Puno on day 18 included?
      5) day 19 is the boat visit to Taquile Island included?
(we are wondering because your advertised price was 'from 1789 dollars', and your quoted price is already £2360, which is considerably more)
      6) day 14 visit to Macchu PIchu - the last paragraph we don't quite understand - it says you go on the guided tour and then you can look around by yourself, and then you say that no walking around the site is permitted without a guide - we're just wondering what this means.
