Ours tours are standard twin share basis where you are roomed with another traveller of same gender and similar age (where possible). If you wish to have you own room you can add it additionally. Please note that on this trip, you would have your own room on all nights stops except nights 3-5 on the Inca trail camp. The best time to hike is during Peru's dry season which is May to September. October is still good as well however there is more change of it raining during that time.

Inca Trail permits are completely sold out for the whole month of October, but you could opt to do the Lares Trek or Machu Pichu by train as an alternative

How challenging is the Inca Trail and what should I be physically prepared for?

The Inca Trail is challenging due to its altitude and rugged terrain. It's recommended to be in good physical condition and acclimatize to the altitude ahead of the trek.

What is the procedure for getting water during the day?

Drinking water is provided at all campsites, and you will have the option to refill during your hike. The water is filtered and boiled for safety.

If I join the rainbow mountain trip, what time would the trip end at Cusco?

The group will arrive back to Cusco at 6pm if you do the Rainbow Mountain Hike.

Is this the Inca trail HIKING trip? I found trips that seem to be bus tours to Machu Pichu, not hiking.

This trip includes the 4 day Inca Trail hike. Permits are limited and can sell out months in advance.

What are the health and safety measures on the trek?

Health and safety are prioritized with guides trained in first aid and emergency procedures. Ensure to have personal medical supplies and insurance.

I would like to book this package with my friend but we will be paying separately (although arriving together). How do we do this through the website? I have questions about the trek itself before we book; such as: where do we get the water that we use to drink; is there any connectivity overnight in the tents, to charge cameras; if we come in a day early, can we do any of the cooking classes in Cuzco that are advertised on the Inca Discovery Plus trip; if one of us requires a special meal advertised, do we inform you on booking; are there any plane trips directly into Cuzco, or only from Lima...

We supply water filling stations usually at the hotels and also on the Inca Trek as well. There will be no connectivity whist on the Inca Trail as the camps dont electricity to charge batteries etc, so you would need to have spare batteries already charged. The cooking classes are not offered as pre or post activities for this trip. You would need to advise us of any special meal requirements at the time of booking, so we can make sure you are accommodated. There are no direct international flights into Cuzco, as it is really only a domestic airport. You will need to travel via Lima in each direction.

Is it possible to get a private room on any of the tour dates starting between August 23-28th? It isn't an option on the booking page, however it is an option on later bookings but I can't do those dates.

At this stage all of our August departures are on request, so what you would need to do is request the booking and the single supplement, which will hold your credit card for the full amount. We would then go off to our local office to see if they can confirm for you. This process takes 3-4 business days and if the trip is not confirmed, then we would not charge your card. If you are wanting to do the Inca Trail, there are no trek permits available until mid-october, so you would need to choose the Lares Trek or Cusco stay as the alternative.

We are sorry to advise that permits are now sold out for July, however we can offer you the Lares Trek instead. The Lares Trek is less popular, and you do get the sense of being alone and at one with your surroundings in a way that you don't at the Inca Trail. You'll see less ruins on this trek but you will pass through farmlands and small mountain communities so will really get a good chance to see how the local Peruvians truly live! - You will also see a lot more llamas on this trek! The Lares takes you to a higher altitude, so you'll need to ensure you take the necessary precautions to give yourself the best chance of avoiding altitude sickness. Both are equally as challenging but the Inca trail has a lot more man made steps, it is this that some people find more challenging and harder on your knees. This Trek is 3 days long (2 nights). You will then overnight in Aguas Calientes and rise early to enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu.

All information is easily accessible. The pre-treck briefing was very good, all information was there. Good slide show preparing you for everything that will be happening along the way, including planning toilet breaks 🤪 The trail staff, porters, cooks, chef, guides...I can't say thank you enough for their amazing work!!! Need to mention Emerson our Chef and Primitivo the head porter, thank you and your team's for all your hard work 🙏 I have to say, attention to details, food presentation, fancy table napkins folds, your tent and duffle bag ready for you when you arrive, warm welcome, and all of this after they have hiked the same distance as you with massive bags on!! Absolute Heros! Our Guide Yonathan and assisted guide Efrain were incredible, very supportive, and treated everyone as an individual. So much knowledge and passion made this trip truly memorable. Our guides (Enrique and Almandra) created a family out of our group - there was so much support, laughs, and sharing of personal experiences along the way. I was excited but apprehensive about the Trail in the days leading up the Inca Trail. I knew I'd put in a lot of work training and preparing for the trip but was nervous I wouldn't make it. Joel and Katya were amazing supports on the Trail and super encouraging at every stage of the journey - celebrating the achievements even when I was too tired to celebrate myself. Francisco & Cristobel's cooking was honestly some of the best food I ate in Peru with so much care and detail put into every meal! And honestly, I'm still in awe of the porter's and everything they do to make the journey more comfortable/achievable! There is no way I'd be able to have completed the trail while carrying a tent, sleeping bag, food, cooking for myself etc etc. Group 10 were so lovely and welcoming and Jason's waitering was always done with a huge smile! I'm so grateful for everything G Adventures provided and all the support from the team over the 4 day trip!Show more

- For any tour departing before April 30th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after April 30th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with G Adventures. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 45 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and G Adventures will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
- The following cards are accepted for "G Adventures" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
Cancellation Policy
- Your money is safe with TourRadar, as we only pay the tour operator after your tour has departed.
- TourRadar is an authorized Agent of G Adventures. Please familiarize yourself with the G Adventures payment, cancellation and refund conditions.
