We had an excellent time on our Explore Europe tour with a wonderful group of people. Our Tour Facilitator, Sam Taylor, went above and beyond to ensure our group were well looked after and had an enjoyable time in all places visited. Our Bus Driver, Josh, was a driver extraordinaire with amazing skills and endless patience that ensured we arrived at our destinations safely. We were in excellent hands with Sam and Josh at the helm. Many laughs were had on tour. Our hotels were comfortable and our meals enjoyable. Buffet breakfasts every morning ensured we were ready to start the day. The tour itself takes you to amazing places and enables great experiences to be had and many special memories to linger on long past the tour. There is a lot of walking on tour, on uneven and sometimes very steep surfaces so ensure your fitness levels are adequate, and you have comfortable walking shoes, and you will experience an incredible journey. Hats off to Ex Pat Travel for providing their customers with a great experience from beginning to end.

It was a very well organised tour, which took us to all the major sites of Europe from the comfort of our coach, with plenty of optional excursions to suit all interests. Accommodation was well located with excellent breakfasts included. Our driver Josh is the absolute best and tour leader Sam kept us entertained and informed throughout the tour, even on the longer travel days.

It was a really upbeat and well-organized trip! I felt safe and well looked after throughout. The food was okay, but overall, I had a fantastic experience. The coach was spotless, the driver was super talented and helpful, and our tour leader was so friendly, energetic, and always ready to assist us. They even went the extra mile to show us more and meet any special needs. I definitely recommend this to my friends!

Great tour, fast paced but you get to see and do a lot. The guide was very helpful when we wanted to do something, and the driver was great too. Only wish we had more time in all of the places except Germany/Black Forest was the only place I didn’t enjoy as I found the locals were really rude.

While the overall tour was satisfactory there were some aspects that need addressing: On a few occasions the arrival/check-in at our hotels for the night was far too late & due to the long days, which I know are are standard on a coach tour, this increased the exhaustion aspect of the day. Also there was a lot more walking around for LSS than was implied in the tour summary. Some of the hotels were far too far away from the towns/cities we visited. I realize that there is a budget to be adhered to but surely there must be other closer options available closer to the town centres? Also some of the rooms in the hotels were ridiculously small - a fact that was commented on by many pax on our tour. The hotel in Avignon, while quaint, had an inoperable lift (for the luggage) which appeared to have been out of action for some time, judging by the age of the notice on it! One hotel in Baden-Baden did not even have AC.....the temperature in the rooms was unbearably hot. All they could offer me was a rickety old fan which struggled to keep me cool. Others in the group reported a very uncomfortable night trying to keep cool.

The trip was fantastic, although a bit hectic. One problem was that tour radar prices were not the same as actual daily prices ,in regard to optional extras. The Swiss Jungfrau trip was way different Also the information regarding types of luggage allowed on the bus was not quite accurate.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour experience. Some of the days did feel a bit long due to travel days, but gave us the chance to rest up. Coming from Australia we did find it a bit disappointing there was no mention of, or chance to stop at prominent war memorial sites along the way, particularly on the days close to ANZAC Day. Just a tip about tipping. In Australia we don’t have a tipping culture, and when asked to tip an extra 9euro per day per driver and guide this all added to the cost of the tour (and due to exchange rate was quite expensive) - which equated to at least a weeks wages in Australia.

Travellers would be required to carry their luggage from where the coach parks into the lobby of the hotels and to their rooms. When travelling between countries, their luggage will be transported on the coach and they will be responsible for obtaining their luggage from the driver and the tour leader. Our tours are quite fast paced as it involves walking of up to 3 hours when doing orientation tours with the tour leader in the countries they will be visiting.

Can I use 'Genius' insurance option?

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten September 2025

Our tours generally have a minimum age requirement of 10 years old, in this case, since your son will be traveling together with you and under your care, we can raise this to management to request an exception and allow him to join. Children on tour must always be accompanied by an adult, and rooming is based on twin-share, each minor must share with a responsible adult rather than being roomed alone.

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten September 2025

XCover only provides insurance coverage to residents of Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe, the USA, and Canada. For travellers residing outside of these regions, we recommend arranging suitable travel insurance independently to ensure you're fully covered.

I would like to pay the additional fee for a private room as this is my first time travelling solo, although you advise this is subject to availability. How does this work? If you cannot accommodate a private room for the entire tour, would one be allocated where possible?

Is it possible that I join up with the group in Paris on Day 1 instead of Amsterdam?

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten July 2025

Private rooms are subject to availability. We do have availability at this stage at an additional cost of 2585AUD.

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten July 2025

Yes, you're welcome to meet the group in Paris instead on Day 1. While the official meeting point is in Amsterdam, the group will travel to Ghent (Belgium) for a lunch and then continue on to Paris in the evening, where the overnight accommodation is scheduled.

I'm interested in a tour (Europe Explorer) but it's a bit out of budget. Do you guys do Black Friday sales?

    Price / Availability
    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten July 2025

We do have Black Friday Sales on selected tours, however we can not guarantee that this tour would be one of it. We advise you keep an eye on the website for any sales that would be less cost affective to you.

Will we be staying the night of the 15th at the hotel in Amsterdam or do we just meet you there to leave at 7 am? Our flight from the US comes in at 7:15 am so if we are just meeting at the hotel on the morning of the 15th, we would need to come the 14th and make alternative hotel arrangements.

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

on Day 1, the tour departs from Amsterdam at 7:30 AM and travels directly to Paris, where your first night's accommodation will be. This means you will not be staying in Amsterdam on the night of the 15th. Since your flight arrives that morning, it may be quite tight, so you might consider arriving on the 14th and booking pre-tour accommodation.

Does the tour end in Amsterdam city center or at a airport hotel? The travelers are planning to take a train to Paris to visit family after the tour and I need to know where I should book the train departing from. Also, they have a single occupancy friend who is interested in taking this tour with them. Does this tour have any availability for a Private Single traveler?

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten March 2025

On the last day of the tour, it will end after breakfast at the Hotel but customers can stay in until checkout time but there will be no transfers to the city center or any other location, provided from the tour. Yes, we still have availability for a Single Rom Upgrade for the September 16, 2025 departure and it is offered at 1,555 USD on top of the seat cost.

Is it possible to get the hotel list as soon as we book and pay the deposit? The clients want to apply for the visa as soon as they book the trip and pay the deposit. The client also is required to purchase travel insurance with $30,000 Euro medical. Do you have a minimum amount of medical insurance that you require the travelers to have?

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten March 2025

We can only share the full itinerary, including hotel details, once your booking is confirmed and you are within 90 days prior to departure. Accommodations vary depending on the tour date, and the most up-to-date listing will be available at that time. As for travel insurance, we do not require a minimum amount for medical coverage. However, from what we know, the standard requirement for a Schengen visa is around €30,000. It's always best to check with your travel insurance provider to ensure you have sufficient coverage.
