The overall cost of the tour includes three nights of B&B accommodation on the island of Islay, and distillery tours or tasting at a minimum of six distilleries. The price for the tour would be £1,060 per person (sharing a twin or double room) or £1,360 per person (single occupancy room).

Our tour will already have departed from Edinburgh at 8:00am on this morning. Realistically, by the time you would make it to Scotland, there would not be a chance of catching up with the tour on the first day.

Stefan was a great host and tour guide! He was warm, funny, and knowledgeable. I appreciate all of the history he imbued on us as we imbibed and traveled. I love the additional historical sites we were able to see both on and off Islay. I think the tour was well paced, even though I wanted to do even more distilleries, my liver agrees with the pace of the tour. Ha! The Lambeth lodging that I was at was the absolute most charming place and would love to stay here in the future. I would absolutely do this or a similar tour again with Scottish Routes and with Stefan. I highly recommend this experience!Show more

Majit was a superb guide, extraordinary storyteller, and fabulous traveling companion. He made each whisky distillery tour special knowing the people at each one and a lot about the whiskies. The stay at the Bowmore bed and breakfast was delightful. The food was excellent and the room was clean, cozy and very comfortable. Andrew and Allison were perfect hosts. We enjoyed the cultural stops and the history talks as we drove. The country really came alive for us in ways we hadn’t expected!Show more

This is part of the email I sent to Scottish Routes: "The itinerary was excellent – very well planned; the accommodation on Islay was most pleasant, hosts Andrew and Alison vey hospitable; we were fortunate to travel with a very interesting and varied group of people and the transport provided was very comfortable. Unfortunately we had the tour guide from hell - Moray. Moray was extremely rude, crude, unapproachable, obnoxious, ignorant and insensitive. He drove at excessive and dangerous speeds along the narrow roads, becoming extremely impatient with other drivers, cursing them in no uncertain terms and constantly tailgating. Not even the rain slowed him down. If a passenger asked a question that he had already answered he would call them stupid and tell them that they should have listened the first time. He had zero tolerance for anyone who was not back on board at the designated time and let them know he was annoyed. A further example of his poor behaviour is when a passenger asked the source of electricity on Islay. He was driving and initially seemed to ignore the question (this was not unusual) and then threw his hands up in the air and said that it fell out of the sky. There were many more examples of his unprofessional behaviour but I am sure you get the picture."Show more
