The entire tour was a disappointment after hearing multiple raving reviews about Intrepid as a tour company. This was my first and likely last Intrepid tour. Firstly the itinerary is shockingly bad for someone's first time to Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Most of the cities you are taken to in Spain and Portugal are smaller/less popular and therefore if you want to see the main cities you need to fork out extra money and make your own way there. I understand Intrepid wants to support local economy but this is not the trip I was expecting. The tour itself was not cheap and it makes me wonder what my $4K+ really went towards. The Intrepid website is misleading as they show a photo of the caves/grottos in the Algarve (Portugal) which you do not get taken to, nor was it an option to go why is it on the website? A group of us decided to fork out a good amount of money to get a private car and driver to take us out to Lagos and visit these beautiful beach and cave areas which should most definitely be on the itinerary but for some wild reason is not. The tour does not spend any time whatsoever in Madrid or Marakesh. The majority of the group voiced that Morocco was the main reason for joining the tour and we were all quite eager to spend the most time there. Again the itinerary is misleading as you technically spend 1.5 days in Tarifa (Spain) where you catch a ferry across to Morocco. It still fathoms me why on earth we were booked on a 5pm ferry to Tangier Morocco, meaning less time in Chefchaouen. I must say this makes NO sense. Why spend so much time in Tarifa??? This whole day could have been spent in Chefchaouen. There is so much more to see, do and eat in Chef. We spoke to the guide but apparently it was out of his hands to change the ferry tickets to an earlier one. No meals were included which was fine, however our guide invited us to group dinners if we wanted to join but always chose restaurants which were either close to the hotel or quite expensive or both. I feel budget of all travellers was not taken into account and that the guides should explore different local restaurants to find quality and various affordability rather than convenience. No options were given so the group was stuck with the restaurant choice. Exploring in our own, we usually found better and more affordable restaurants. The guide needs to do more research/exploring. I also felt our guide didn't offer adequate options for the group considering the various ages and fitness levels. I'm also disappointed we did not get a local guide for Spain and Portugal. I had heard from others how much culture and local knowledge they experienced from their local guides. I would not recommend this trip and would suggest either finding another tour company or doing this trip on your own. Unfortunately my $4K+ I spent on the tour was not worth it, considering I had to spend extra funds not budgeted on travelling to the places I wanted to see outside of the itinerary. The highlight of this tour were the other travellers on the tour who made it worthwhile! I had high hopes for Intrepid but unfortunately was left disappointed.

The Intrepid concept is brilliant, although appears to attract an older crowd than I thought. The laid back feel with a knowledgable guide to take the stress out of getting from one place to another plus the fun of a group experience was great!

    5.0 - Excellent

A good trip, but better when combined with an additional Morocco trip if you\'d like to see more of the country than the big medinas of Fes and Marrakech (although Chefchaouen is excellent).
