Great trip. We got a little sick in Guatemala (don't order the beef nachos at Tortugal in Rio Dolche). Other than that, our guide was great, we covered a lot of ground, had some nice meals, explored the ATM cave (a highlight), snorkelled with turtles and nurse sharks, and samples guacamole, hot sauces and margaritas in Mexico. I also dived four cenotes in Tulum which was definitely a highlight of the tour. Highly recommended.

Hi Michael, thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re delighted to hear you had a great time in Guatemala and Mexico. Sorry to hear that you got a little sick, that can be rough when travelling! But it sounds like it didn’t slow you down from trying all of the other delicious treats. We hope to see you on another trip with us again soon. Kind regards, Intrepid

LOVED this tour - the perfect mix of culture, sunshine, good vibes and delicious food all wrapped in a style of travel that gives you those one-of-a-kind moments that I would never find on my own. Oh, and my leader was SUPERB! Could not do enough to make sure our group had the BEST holiday ever.

First time to Central America and this trip did not disappoint. The perfect mix of included and optimal activities, history, sights and amazing beaches. We stayed in some really cool local hotels and our leader new all the local secrets when it came to food, drinks and how to use our free time. Awesome!!!

It was great tour and glad to see different aspect of Guatemala, Belieze, Mexico. I really enjoyed. Tour guide took care of us well and gave a lot of information in each place. However, clearly there were several times miscommunication between the tour companies and tour guide? Tour, Hotel, transportation, local guides etc... Overall, it was a great tour.

The trip was overall good but.... when booking have in mind that if something goes wrong, Intrepid will just say that the only thing you can do is to liaise with your insurance... On day 2 of my tour, we were suppose to go from Cancun to Merida and Intrepid send us a mini van without appropriate space for luggages. Nevertheless, the driver decided to leave in any case, squeezing some bags in the car, and "fixing" the other outside. Well... mine was lost on the way... I had 15 days of my holiday ahead and nothing of my items left... no iPhone charger, no kindle, no clothes, no underwear, no toiletries. .. the day after the driver bought for me a few clothes to survive during the trip but... Intrepid does not want to refund anything and for me, as they were the cause of the problem, this is the real signal that they are not serious.... In other words... if everything goes well, WELL! But if something go wrong... they do not care.... So... why to book with them?

    2.0 - Rather poor

The tour leader was insufficient in crisis situations. In the first part of the tour, which I was not on, a man broke his ankle, and it was not until another person on the tour told our guide to contact Intrepid, that anything was done. When we were at the hot springs in Guatemala, our tour leader was stung by a scorpion. She had no idea on where to find medical attention, when supposedly it was where she goes with her family all the time. If it had been anyone else who had been stung, she would not have known where to find a doctor, or hospital. I do not believe she informed intrepid of her misfortune, as I believe Intrepid would have policies and procedures in place for when things like this happen. Because of it, she was not with us until the last few days of the trip. We were just told to read a note at reception, and forced into doing activities that were satisfactory. When a couple of us had come back from cave tubing, our driver hit a drunk man crossing the street. We understand this happens frequently in these countries, but to some of us, it was scary. When we told our tour leader, she seemed ambivalent about it. I believe a good tour guide would ask us individually if we are okay. I believe our tour guide did not inform Intrepid of what had happened in each incident. I would have hoped that we would have got a new leader, as she was in no case to be out of bed for a week. Which made our experience poor. When we would go to each city, our leader never gave us any information on population, national plants, animals, etc. It was only because we would ask these questions, that we found the answers. She would give the people who asked questions dirty looks, and even talk behind their backs about them. No hot water in almost every accommodation. The only inclusion was Tikal, and there we had an amazing guide. He was drunk, a previous intrepid leader, but he was fantastic. Told us everything, answered our questions with humour. Was engaging and fun. Worst leader I've ever had on a tour. Never explained responsible tourism, did not tell us information about the towns when we'd arrive. Always said every extra activity was her 'favourite' thing. She'd always make us decide on extra activities straight away when we did have time. When we booked cave tubing in san ignacio, she made us decided straight away. However the next morning all of us were waiting on time at 9am, when the owner of the group walked by, and said he did not know of a tour booked.... So we had to wait an extra 45 mins till we were on our way. It was $80US and was managed poorly. Our leader was a nice person, but it always seemed we were following her agenda. There was a time when we needed her, but she was instead meeting her mum for lunch. She had things she wanted/needed to do, and we fit her schedule. We were not her priority. She was only with us for full days, 5 days of the entire tour. Otherwise it was minimal information. She'd never ask us where we wanted to go for dinner or lunch. it was always to her choice and time. I like to try local cuisine, not eat with 20 other tour groups around. As a vegetarian, she never even looked at restaurants she chose to see if there was a vegetarian option. One place in San Ignacio, they ran out of all seafood except prawns. And I don't eat prawns. There was no vegetarian options. And of course these are expensive restaurants as they are run by tourist groups. Our tour leader also smoked marijuana while on the trip with us. I do not mind if she does it on her own time. But she smoked a joint while on a boat cruise in Caye Caulker as our tour leader. She admitted this to another member of our group later that night. And she was very quiet on the boat which wasn't like her so it made sense. The tour itself was satisfactory. Be prepared to budget more than $100US easily.

I enjoyed the trip. Don\'t really have any problems with the itinerary. The group size was a bit small, but that can\'t be helped. The Green Hotel was a bit basic in Flores.
