Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Humatay Lake
Your pickup happens around 4:00 a.m. from the hotel, followed by a two-hour drive to Mollepata where you'll have breakfast. From there, you head to Challacancha to connect with your trekking team. The hike to Sky Camp at Soraypampa takes about three hours and reaches 3,900 m elevation. After lunch and some rest time, you'll tackle the afternoon hike to Humantay Lake, a 3 km round trip that gets you to 4,200 m where the turquoise water makes for great photos. The day wraps up with dinner and you sleep in an igloo-style dome.

- Day 2
Soraypampa to Collpapampa
This morning starts with coca tea and a filling breakfast before the tough three-hour climb to Abra Salkantay at 4,630 m, the trek's highest point with views of Salkantay mountain spread out below. The descent covers 7 km down to Huayracmachay where lunch happens. From there, you walk 9.5 km through cloud forest terrain to Collpapampa and Mountain Sky View camp. You'll notice local wildlife around the area and finish with dinner before getting a solid night's rest.

- Day 3
Collpapampa to Lucmabamba
Starting at 6:00 a.m. with hot mate and breakfast, you hike through Santa Teresa Valley spotting waterfalls, rivers, orchids, and plantations with bananas, coffee, and avocado trees. If you're lucky, you might see a cock-of-the-rock bird. Lunch comes at La Playa, then you continue to Lucmabamba and Super Jungle Domes for the night. In the afternoon, you visit an organic coffee farm to see how they grow and process beans for export. Dinner happens at camp with jungle sounds all around you.

Lucmabamba to Aguas Calientes
After breakfast, you spend two hours hiking along an original section of the Inca Trail to Llactapata at 2,700 m where your guide explains the site and you get your first look at Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu. The descent to Aobamba takes about 1.5 hours and that's where lunch happens. From there, it's 30 minutes to Hidroeléctrica where you can either catch the train (your cost) or hike three hours along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes. You check into your hotel and have dinner at a local restaurant before settling in for the night.

- Day 5
Aguas Calientes to Cusco
The main event starts early with a light breakfast so you arrive at Machu Picchu before most crowds show up. Your guide leads a two-hour tour covering temples, houses, terraces, squares, and agricultural areas while explaining the history and what makes this place significant. Afterward, you head down to Aguas Calientes for lunch and time to look for souvenirs. The train takes you to Ollantaytambo where a vehicle brings you back to your Cusco hotel, finishing off your trip.

- Day 6
Cusco to Rainbow Mountain
Starting around 4:00 a.m., a hotel pickup takes you three hours south to the Cusco valley where llamas and alpacas roam freely. You stop briefly for breakfast, then continue to Llacto at 4,630 m to begin the hike. You follow a trail running alongside a stream between Andean mountains with views of Apu Ausangate. After hiking about 1.5 hours, you reach Rainbow Mountain at 5,100 m for photos and a quick explanation. The hike back down takes roughly an hour, then you drive to Cusipata for a buffet lunch before heading back to Cusco.
