Itinerary
- Day 1
Kigali to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
You'll start the day in Kigali with breakfast and get briefed on what's ahead. From there, the Kigali Genocide Memorial takes up about two hours and is an important stop on your itinerary. Then you're driving north through rolling hills and past local communities heading into Uganda's Virunga region. By evening you'll arrive at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and check into your lodge for dinner and rest.

- Day 2
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
After an early breakfast, you'll head to the ranger station for a briefing before starting either a gorilla trek or choosing an alternative hike instead. The gorilla trek can take anywhere from two to ten hours depending on where the gorillas are that day, but when you find them you get a full hour watching them. If trekking isn't your preference, Mount Sabyinyo gives you panoramic views across Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo. Back at the lodge you'll have dinner and another overnight stay.

- Day 3
Mount Muhabura
This is an early morning, challenging ascent of Mount Muhabura at 4,127 meters. You're looking at a seven to nine-hour trek that needs good fitness levels, with alpine vegetation, crater lakes, and views of the Virunga Volcanoes as you go. At the summit you'll be standing where Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo all meet. You return to the lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

- Day 4
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to Kigali
You'll have breakfast and then head to the ranger station for a golden monkey trek through bamboo forests. These monkeys have striking golden coats and are pretty energetic to watch. After the trek, you're heading back toward Kigali, crossing into Rwanda and arriving in the evening to wrap up your safari.
