Overall, this was an awesome experience! Our guide (C.) was great - knowledgeable, friendly, and well-organized. The group had great chemistry, and there was a good mix of cultural activities, free time, and scenic highlights. Using public transport added authenticity and gave us a chance to see more of the country. Cappadocia was definitely a highlight, but be aware that excursions there can be expensive if booked through the tour provider. For example, the balloon tour offered through Intrepid was €200, while local prices ranged from €80–120 the day before. I’d love to see Intrepid partner with reliable local companies to offer better rates and even more optional extras (e.g. photoshoot in Cappadocia). Personally, I would’ve preferred skipping the Konya stop - the time spent checking in/out and transferring didn’t feel worth it. Adding half a day more in Antalya or including Izmir or Ankara in the itinerary could further improve the overall experience. The night bus to Istanbul was difficult (very little sleep), though maybe unavoidable. We were lucky it wasn’t crowded, but if full, it would’ve been nearly impossible to rest. The last day in Istanbul also felt a bit underwhelming - only visiting the Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar. A short city tour or Bosphorus cruise would’ve been a great addition. Hotels were basic but fine for the trip style. All in all, a wonderful adventure across Turkey - with stunning landscapes, deep culture, and good company!Show more

  When I did some research on internet, a flight (1.25 hours direct) seemed best option since no trains between those two cities. Bus takes too long. Pegasus and Ajet @ ~ $65-100 seemed more reasonably priced than Turkish Air @ $300. Leaning towards Pegasus - is it OK/reliable? Any luggage restrictions since I will have one bag about 35-40 pounds.

  Discount domestic airlines fly into SAW/Sabiha Gokcen Airport which is on Asian side so ~ 20 miles to center city. Also, it wasn't totally clear but it looked like M4 metro line was best option after disembark flight. But seems to have several connections. Explanation of these details appreciated. And does the M4 metro line connect right into airport?

  We can arrange a departure airport transfer for you from our ending hotel Argos Hotel to the Antalya Airport (AYT) the cost would be USD $83 or you can always ask the hotel reception to call you a cab. Public transit is also an option but you would need to transfer from Tram to Shuttle. From there you would take a 1 hour and 15 min flight from Antalya to Istanbul airport (SAW). Once you exit the airport you will walk about 7 mins to the train station and take the M4 train which is operated by Istanbul Ulasim for 49 mins to Ayrılılık Çeşmesi. You will then switch lines to the Marmaray Train operated by Turkish Railways you will get on at Ayrilikcesme for 1 stop and exit at Sirkeci. From there it is a 19 minuet walk to 10 Karakoy, Istanbul. The entire journey will take you around 4.5 hours. There is a website that we love to use to map out routes called Rome2Rio. Feel free to google it, its free to use and you can even pre-book train tickets if available.

  Does Intrepid charge a service fee if you use your Visa for payment? I prefer to use my Visa credit card (which I did on the downpayment) because of the points and extra travel insurance coverage added to my Allianz annual travel insurance. But sometimes tour companies charge extra (~ 3%) so when large amount, I sometimes opt to pay by EFT from my checking account. Best to understand the payment rules.
