The tour guide Erdim was excellent, our driver was excellent,the places we visited were amazing, Eastern Turkey is beautiful however the hotels qere a disaster, tiny rooms, in some I had to share my bed with my luggage as there was no room for it anywhere else, no milk at the breakfast buffet, lots of steps to the hotels with no help offered from staff, no lifts. Yes it was stated that there would be steps however in my experience staff will help with luggage. The only good hotel was the Ozkaya in Sivas where the manager turned on the heating as we arrived soaked from the rain and the ladies in tge kitchen provided omelettes abd yoghurt for breakfast on request, the worst hotel was the Euphrat hotel in Adiyaman, the buffet dinner was very limited in options as was the breakfast and neither were good, but its the only hotel in the area so they have a monopoly, they weren't very friendly either. It poured rain, which formed puddles up the ankles because the water was not draining, my new adidas traibers were ruined, the room waa cold abd some light fixtures didn't work. In all the other hotels except the hotel in Sivas there were issues with hot water, light fixtures, in Aga Konagi in Mardin, the water bottle in my room had a broken seal which tells me it was filled from a tap and not bottled water, I didnt drink it but I could have gotten sick if I hadn't noticed the seal was broken. Safe deposit boxes were practically non existent. The Wimeingaet hitel in Istanbul weren' t able to organise a take away breakfast for us and gave us all sandwiches wrapped on a tray, no bag, no fruit and no juice. In Aga Konagi in Mardin the toulet was in my room with shower doors around it, the hand basin was seperate in the room and the shower was also in the room behind shower doors, I know that these renovated mansions have limitations on how they can change and build because of planning and heritage but a toilet in the room is ridiculous, there was no other room available.   When I did some research on internet, a flight (1.25 hours direct) seemed best option since no trains between those two cities. Bus takes too long. Pegasus and Ajet @ ~ $65-100 seemed more reasonably priced than Turkish Air @ $300. Leaning towards Pegasus - is it OK/reliable? Any luggage restrictions since I will have one bag about 35-40 pounds.

  Discount domestic airlines fly into SAW/Sabiha Gokcen Airport which is on Asian side so ~ 20 miles to center city. Also, it wasn't totally clear but it looked like M4 metro line was best option after disembark flight. But seems to have several connections. Explanation of these details appreciated. And does the M4 metro line connect right into airport?

  We can arrange a departure airport transfer for you from our ending hotel Argos Hotel to the Antalya Airport (AYT) the cost would be USD $83 or you can always ask the hotel reception to call you a cab. Public transit is also an option but you would need to transfer from Tram to Shuttle. From there you would take a 1 hour and 15 min flight from Antalya to Istanbul airport (SAW). Once you exit the airport you will walk about 7 mins to the train station and take the M4 train which is operated by Istanbul Ulasim for 49 mins to Ayrılılık Çeşmesi. You will then switch lines to the Marmaray Train operated by Turkish Railways you will get on at Ayrilikcesme for 1 stop and exit at Sirkeci. From there it is a 19 minuet walk to 10 Karakoy, Istanbul. The entire journey will take you around 4.5 hours. There is a website that we love to use to map out routes called Rome2Rio. Feel free to google it, its free to use and you can even pre-book train tickets if available.

  Does Intrepid charge a service fee if you use your Visa for payment? I prefer to use my Visa credit card (which I did on the downpayment) because of the points and extra travel insurance coverage added to my Allianz annual travel insurance. But sometimes tour companies charge extra (~ 3%) so when large amount, I sometimes opt to pay by EFT from my checking account. Best to understand the payment rules.
