    • Days 1-2

      Istanbul

      Start your journey where East meets West. The trip from Sabiha Gokcen Airport to your hotel takes about 1.5 hours with Istanbul traffic. Your first full day is perfect for exploring the historic Sultanahmet district. "Turkish people are very friendly and restaurants are everywhere, with reasonable prices due to the current exchange rate." Get to Hagia Sophia early before the 10 AM tour groups arrive. Remember to bring a scarf for the Blue Mosque as shoulders need to be covered.

    • Days 3-5

      Cappadocia

      Take a 90-minute morning flight to Kayseri. Stay in Göreme instead of Ürgüp to be closer to the main sites. You'll see incredible fairy chimneys, rock-cut churches and underground cities. Start at Göreme Open Air Museum in the morning to see the frescoes in the best light. The Rose Valley offers beautiful sunset views. The rock formations in Devrent Valley look their best between 4-6 PM when the light hits just right.

      Antalya

      The drive through Konya takes about 7 hours, with a stop at the 13th-century Mevlana Museum. You can save time with a 1-hour flight for $150. The old town area, Kaleiçi, is beautiful for evening walks past Ottoman mansions.

    • Days 6-9

      Mediterranean Cruise

      Your gulet cruise starts in Kaş. Spend 4 days on the Turquoise Coast swimming and snorkeling in quiet coves. A recent traveler notes: "The narrow single mattress cabins are very tight for two people - consider upgrading to a larger boat if possible."

    • Days 10-11

      Antalya Region

      Back in Antalya, visit ancient Perge and the well-preserved Aspendos theater. Go to Kursunlu Waterfall early to avoid crowds. The coastal mountain drive offers great views.

      Pamukkale & Ephesus

      Leave at 7 AM for Pamukkale's white terraces. Pack water shoes as the calcium pools can be slippery. Head to Kuşadası to see Ephesus. Visit Mary's House before 9 AM to avoid tour groups. Fly back to Istanbul for your final stop.

      Istanbul

      Begin in Istanbul's historic center. Visit Topkapi Palace early (8:30 AM to avoid crowds), followed by the incredible Hagia Sophia. The Blue Mosque is usually quieter in late afternoon. Pack slip-on shoes since you'll remove them often at mosques. A Bosphorus cruise at sunset offers a peaceful way to see the city.

      Gallipoli to Çanakkale

      Spend time at the WWI battlefields. The Gallipoli sites require good walking shoes. Take the afternoon ferry (30 minutes) across the Dardanelles to Çanakkale.

      Troy and Izmir Region

      Start at Troy in the morning's cooler temperatures. Head to Izmir to visit Ephesus. Bring plenty of water and sun protection for Ephesus as shade is limited. Prepare for an uphill walk to the House of Virgin Mary.

      Pamukkale and Hierapolis

      Watch sunset at the white travertine terraces. Bring water shoes for the thermal pools. Visit Hierapolis early before it gets too hot.
