Western Turkey Tours & Trips
Imagine walking streets where Romans walked 2,000 years ago. Ephesus preserves that history remarkably well. Istanbul switches between the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, Pamukkale's white terraces fill with thermal water for swimming, and Troy brings Homer's epic to life. Cappadocia's landscape looks photoshopped until you're standing in it, and Gallipoli's battlefields carry historical weight.

He took care of me really well. I learned a lot travelling with them. I would recommend go with this. Because you don’t need to think about anything. Everything will be taken care by them.

Our experience with the City of Sultans tour package was excellent! We booked a 8 day tour to Istanbul, Izmir/Ephesus, Pamukkale, and Cappadocia. The guides at each location were great. The transportation was always on time, both at the airports and at the hotels, and the guides were well prepared. Everything ran very smoothly, which we all really appreciated. The guides were knowledgeable, and they all tried to ensure that we could see what we wanted to see in the way that we wanted. Two of the people on our tour took a lot of pictures, and the guides patiently waited for them and showed them the best places to take photographs. I truly felt that they all wanted us to have the best experience possible. I would absolutely recommend the City of Sultans to my friends, and if I tour Turkey again, I would use them again!

Best tour companies for Western Turkey tours
From what our travelers tell us, Tour Altinkum stands out for being really quick to respond and adapt when plans need changing. City of Sultans runs things smoothly and their guides know their stuff, though you should expect some shopping stops along the way that aren't always mentioned upfront. Fez Travel gets solid marks for putting together clear, detailed itineraries - and their guide Serdar Ozkan in particular gets lots of mentions for making history come alive during tours. The only real issue some travelers mention is that hotel quality can be a bit uneven from stop to stop. All three companies are pretty good choices for Turkish tours, but they each have their strong points. If you need flexibility or might want to adjust your plans, Tour Altinkum is probably your best bet. Looking for deep historical context and well-planned routes? Fez Travel, especially if you can get Serdar as your guide. And City of Sultans is great for hassle-free touring, just be ready for those shopping stops.

Best time to visit Western Turkey
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter in Western Turkey works really well with a mix of indoor and outdoor sites. Our 10-day routes take you through Istanbul's covered bazaars and museums before heading south where it's a bit warmer. The guides are good at reading the weather, scheduling Pamukkale's hot springs for the cooler days when you'll appreciate them most. After exploring the old ruins at Hierapolis, you can warm up at the thermal hotels in Pamukkale. Our winter groups tell us to bring waterproof boots and warm layers - you'll find the sites wonderfully quiet this time of year even if the weather's a bit chilly.

- Spring 2026
Spring hits the sweet spot for exploring Western Turkey's ancient sites. Our 5-6 day coastal routes connect Troy to Ephesus when wildflowers pop up among the ruins and temperatures stay just right. You get proper time at each stop - there's no rushing through Pergamon's acropolis when you really want to take it all in. The longer 10-day trips add Cappadocia's cave churches and underground cities, which work perfectly in April and May before the summer rush. The guides know their history inside out, but it's those small moments that make these tours special - watching traditional carpet weavers at work or sharing tea with locals in village squares.

- Summer 2026
Summer needs smart timing to make the most of cooler mornings at the archaeological sites. Our 5-day coastal trips start early at Ephesus then break for shade or seaside stops in the afternoon. The 10-day routes mix history with cooling breaks - morning visits to Hierapolis pair nicely with afternoon dips in Pamukkale's pools. We add more water activities in summer, with boat trips along the coast and afternoon stops at beach clubs near Kuşadası. The guides know all the breezy spots for talks and time the indoor visits for when the heat peaks.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn gives you perfect weather for really getting into Western Turkey's historical sites and landscapes. Our most popular 8-10 day routes cover all the major ancient cities while temperatures stay nice for walking. By September the crowds thin out so you can properly appreciate Troy's archaeological layers and Ephesus' restored facades. The guides can take their time at outdoor sites - you'll understand Pergamon's theater better when you're not rushing through. Our travelers love those long golden afternoons in places like Sirince village where you can try local wines and watch the sun paint the hills orange.
