This morning starts with the drive toward Athabasca Falls, where you can get out and see the powerful cascade up close. After that, you'll continue along Highway 93 and stop at Bow Lake to walk around and take photos of the turquoise water backed by mountains. The drive keeps going and Peyto Lake comes up next, offering another chance to stretch your legs and see the distinctive blue-green color of the water. Depending on the season, you'll either visit the Columbia Icefield (summer and fall) or Lake Minnewanka (early spring when icefield access is limited). If you hit the icefield, you can explore the glacier area and take in the scale of it all. Later in the afternoon, you'll ride the Banff Gondola up the mountainside for panoramic views across the surrounding peaks and valleys. By early evening, you'll roll into Banff town and settle in for the night, wrapping up a full day of driving and short stops throughout the Rockies.
