Itinerary
- Day 1
Jackson to Cascade Lake
You'll start by driving through Southern Yellowstone toward Cascade Creek Trailhead, keeping your eyes open for wildlife along the route. The 3-mile hike to Cascade Lake takes you through the park's backcountry before setting up camp there. After grabbing lunch, you have the option to do a day hike out to Grebe Lake if you're feeling up for it, where you can watch for arctic grayling and waterfowl.

- Day 2
Observation Peak
This morning you'll take it easy with breakfast before heading out to climb Observation Peak. The trail ascends 2.5 miles and climbs 1,300 feet through open meadows and whitebark pine forest to reach the summit. Up there you'll find an old fire lookout and views that stretch across three states, showing the Gallatin and Absaroka ranges laid out in all directions.

Cascade Lake to Jackson
After a relaxed morning and breakfast, you'll pack up camp and hike back down the 3 miles to the trailhead. From there, you'll catch a 3-hour shuttle ride back to Jackson to wrap up your trip.
