Itinerary
- Day 1
Fez to Merzouga
You'll leave the alpine region and head toward the Sahara, driving through Ifrane, which locals call the Little Switzerland of Morocco because of its mountain setting and cool climate. From there, the road descends into the Ziz Valley where date palm oases spread out across the landscape. A stop in Erfoud lets you visit an artisan collective and watch people carving fossils in their workshops. As the afternoon goes on, the Erg Chebbi sand dunes start showing up on the horizon, signaling that the desert's getting close. By evening, you'll settle into your riad positioned near the dunes.

- Day 2
Merzouga
After breakfast, you'll meet your 4x4 driver and get out onto the Erg Chebbi dunes for a desert excursion. You'll visit a nomadic community to learn how people actually live in the desert and share tea with them. Later, head to Khamilia to experience Gnaoua music performances. In the evening, you'll ride camels from Merzouga village out to your desert camp where a traditional Moroccan dinner happens, followed by drumming, Berber songs, and time to look at stars with almost no light pollution.

Merzouga - Rissani - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley
Wake up before sunrise to watch the dunes light up as day breaks. After breakfast, you'll head back toward Dades with a stop in Rissani to explore the fossil factories and learn about the region's paleontology. A photo stop happens in Tinghir, a town built right in the middle of a massive palm oasis. The main event is the Todra Gorge, where you'll walk along the dramatic canyon walls and grab lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the gorge. You'll finish the day arriving in Dades village.

Landmarks Rissani Tinghir Todra Gorge Dades Valley - Day 4
Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech
Start with a short drive to Dades Gorges before continuing toward Ouarzazate. You'll pass through Mgouna, which hosts an annual rose festival, and visit the Skura oasis with date palms and rivers running through it. Once you reach Ouarzazate, known as the 'Hollywood of Morocco,' you'll tour the historic Kasbah Taurirt and the Cinema Museum with its Atlas film studio. Then it's on to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed kasbah that appeared in Game of Thrones, where you can walk around the earthen architecture. The day includes crossing Tizi n-Tishka Pass through the Atlas Mountains (2,260m/7,415 feet) on one of Morocco's most scenic roads with photo stops showing green valleys and ancient villages. You'll arrive in Marrakech with free time to rest.
