- Day 2
Lima
Work through Lima's colonial center with a Local Expert, visiting the Cathedral, Government Palace, Archbishop's Palace, and City Hall. You'll tour Casa Aliaga mansion with a family member, then have lunch at Museo Larco where an archaeologist discusses the collection and women's influence on Peruvian culture.

Lima to Cusco
Fly to Cusco this morning and head into the Sacred Valley with scenic drives and photo stops. Learn about how the region's agriculture developed, grab lunch at Altar Inca overlooking the valley, then settle in at Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel for the next couple of nights while you adjust to the altitude.

Check out the Maras salt pans used by the Incas, then see Moray, an ancient laboratory for testing crops at different elevations. Board the IncaRail train through the Andes to Machu Picchu Pueblo. Stop at Ollantaytambo ruins and visit a local family's home, then walk through Machu Picchu with your Local Expert in a small group to learn about this 15th-century UNESCO site. Wind down with dinner and drinks at your hotel.

Spend the morning at Machu Picchu at your own pace with your Travel Director on hand. The afternoon is yours to relax at the hotel or explore Aguas Calientes, where you can browse the handicraft market, check out hot springs, or visit Allcamayo waterfall surrounded by exotic trees and orchids. Meet up with the group for dinner.

Take the train back to Ollantaytambo, then transfer to Cusco. Walk through the city with a Local Expert to see the cathedral and Qorikancha temple, the most important temple in the Inca Empire. Stop at Mantay store supporting young mothers and children, then have the evening free to wander around Cusco.

Have lunch at Pachapapa, check out San Blas Church, browse San Pedro Market, then tour Cusco's planetarium after hours. The day ends with local food and hot wine.
