You'll board your ship in Luxembourg and get settled for your Rhine and Moselle rivers cruise. This is where your river journey through Europe's castle country begins, so you'll have time to meet other passengers and familiarize yourself with the ship before you set sail.

Bernkastel

Cochem to Koblenz
Cochem offers several ways to spend your time. You can join a walking tour to see the town and Reichsburg Castle, or hike up to it yourself, or cycle through. Later in the day, relax back on the ship as it cruises toward Koblenz. There's an optional guided walk through Koblenz's historic streets if you want to explore after dinner.

Rhine Valley
You've got options here. Take a gondola ride high above the vineyards to reach the Niederwalddenkmal Statue for great views, or try a wine tasting at a local vineyard. If hiking appeals to you more, there are trails through the vineyards with Rhine River views from above.

Wertheim
Wertheim's Old Town has half-timbered houses and the Gothic Stiftskirche worth checking out on foot. You could also learn how to make pretzels at a local bakery, or get on a bike to cycle through the Main River Valley. Castle ruins are another option if you feel like hiking.

Würzburg or Rothenburg
Würzburg has plenty to see. Take a city tour to see the Baroque architecture, or visit the UNESCO World Heritage Residenz Palace with its ornate interiors and Tiepolo frescoes. Hiking to Würzburg Castle is possible too. If you want something different, there's a full-day excursion to Rothenburg, one of Germany's best-preserved walled towns on the Romantic Road.

Join a guided walking tour covering the cathedral, Old Town Hall, and mansions, or try local food like smoked Rauchbier. You can also cycle from Eltmann if you prefer being on two wheels.
