Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Airport to Arusha

    Your guide picks you up from the airport and drives about 45 minutes to Mount Meru Game Lodge, depending on traffic conditions. Once you check in, your guide goes over the tour details and what to expect for the coming days. If you arrive with time to spare, there are some optional activities available, though these cost extra.

  2. Day 2

    Tarangire National Park

    After breakfast, you'll drive for 2 hours to Tarangire National Park, which has a large elephant population. The day involves a game drive where you might spot big cats, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and lots of bird species. The Tarangire River runs year-round and draws wildlife especially during the dry season. You'll have a picnic lunch in the park, then head back to Escarpment Luxury Lodge for dinner.

  3. Day 3

    Hadzabe Bushmen and Datoga Tribes

    Around 5 am, you meet the Hadzabe Bushmen and join their early morning activities including bush trekking and making a campfire. Later in the day, you'll spend time with the Datoga tribe, who are skilled farmers and livestock keepers, learning about their traditions and way of life. After these cultural experiences, you return to Escarpment Luxury Lodge to stay overnight.

  4. Day 4

    Serengeti National Park

    You'll spend the full day in Serengeti National Park, and the schedule is flexible based on what you prefer. Your guide talks with you each morning about timing options like wake-up time and when to start the game drive. You might do a morning drive followed by lunch and rest at camp with an afternoon drive, or you could go for a full-day drive with a picnic lunch. You'll have dinner and stay at Into Wild Africa Camp.

  5. Day 5

    Kogatende Migration Viewing

    After breakfast, you head north to Kogatende for a game drive to see the Great Migration. Later in the evening, you'll watch wildebeest and zebras cross the river. During August, you can see large numbers of wildebeest herds crossing throughout the day. You'll spend the night at Acacia Migration Camp.

  6. Day 6

    Grumeti River Wildlife Viewing

    Following an early breakfast, you go on a game drive to see the action at Grumeti River, where crocodiles wait and watch. You'll observe big cats like lions hunting through the savannah grass, leopards storing their catch in acacia trees, and cheetahs resting on rocks. Wildebeest and zebras are also part of the scene. You'll stay overnight at Acacia Migration Camp.

    Serengeti to Ngorongoro

    You take a final game drive through Serengeti to photograph and watch the wildlife including big cats, buffalos, zebras, hippos, and various birds. As you leave Serengeti and reach the Ngorongoro Crater border, you'll get your first look at the Ngorongoro area. Dinner and overnight are at Rhino Lodge.

    Ngorongoro Crater

    After breakfast, you descend into Ngorongoro Crater, which spans about 102 square miles and sits over 600 meters deep. It's the world's largest unfilled and intact inactive volcano. Around 20,000 larger mammals live here along with smaller animals and various bird species. You explore the forest habitat and might see buffalos, zebras, herbivores, and bird nests. After a picnic lunch in the crater, your guide drives you to the airport.
