Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Peschiera del Garda

You'll arrive in Peschiera del Garda with the afternoon free to do as you like. The town sits right on Lake Garda's shores, so you can wander around the water or check out the 16th century fortress with its distinctive five-sided walls and ramparts. It's a nice way to ease into things and get your bearings before the cycling starts.

    Optional Activities

    • Explore the shores of Lake Garda
    • Visit Peschiera del Garda fortress and ramparts

  2. Day 2

    Peschiera del Garda to Brescia

Today you'll cycle from Peschiera del Garda to Brescia, and you get to pick your route. The longer option follows Lake Garda's shores through Garda, Desenzano and Sirmione for those great water views, or go shorter through the Lugana vineyards if you want something more direct. Brescia itself has a ton of Roman and medieval architecture, and there's an old castle sitting above the city worth checking out.

Along the way you'll see Passirano and Clusane castles and cycle near the Sebino Nature Reserve before reaching Lake Iseo. The route gives you a real sense of the region's history and landscapes all in one day.

Two route options today from Lake Iseo. You can follow the Oglio river through Grumello del Monte and the medieval stone town of Montello, or pedal along Iseo's eastern shores past Toline and Sale Marasino. Either way you'll reach Bergamo early enough to explore both the lower town and the splendid upper town, which you can reach by funicular if your legs need a break.

Everything about the group experience was fantastic. Small group of 14 made up of 13 English and 3 Australians plus Rob, our guide. He is engaging and knowledgeable on all aspects of nature, history, local culture and extremely competent in mountain guiding. We were accommodated, organised and entertained by Rob each day on tour. The hotel Adler in Villabassa was comfortable and quiet in a small village atmosphere but had exceptional food. Each dinner was fabulous and food varied to showcase the more Austrian location. We found this a great variation on the cuisine we had been enjoying in other Italian regions prior to our hiking week. The staff there were very friendly and engaging at all times. We made use of all Ammenities including the indoor pool and gym after hiking and on the rest day. The highlight of the hotel experience was the traditional meal in the wine cellar. Fabulous ambience, food and wine. Our family cannot recommend this highly enough. We have just completed the week, starting near the end of September. Whilst still warm on the first day, we had first snow later that week

These 6 days of mountain hikes come with breath taking views. As a collective, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves during the hikes and in our leisure time. I would rate our mountain guide Mike five stars; he was exceptionally knowledgeable and provided great entertainment with various local tales
