Is the departure guaranteed? How many people are booked for this date and what is the average age of the participants?

There are currently 15 passengers booked on this departure in total, the group size will increase to 26 after Sofia onwards. The departure is confirmed to go ahead as planned and scheduled. Our group demographics tend to be mixed with most passengers aged 25-35 and 55-65+.

I am 66 and very physically fit and eager to join this upcoming tour in the Balkans. The tour page mentions an age range of 18-59. I just completed a 3-day trek to Machu Picchu, indicating my adventurous spirit and fitness. Could you please let us know if it would be possible for me to join the May 9th departure?

Why is there an age limit for 19 day Balkan tour?

The age limits are in place mainly for safety and logistical reasons. Longer tours, like the 19-day Balkan tour, involve early starts, long days of sightseeing, and occasionally physically demanding activities. Even for fit and healthy travellers, the tour operator sets an age limit to ensure the pace and demands of the tour are suitable for all participants and to help manage insurance and liability requirements.

Can I just do the first ten days of this tour? I have limited time. I can do Romania and Bulgaria sections only. Is that possible

The tour was nicely laid out. I loved each city and country that we visited and each tour guide Gabriel from Romania and Simon from Bosnia did a fantastic job of leading the way and explaining the culture and history. The hotels were great. Now as it was over 95 degrees most of our trip I expected a cool bus the entire trip but the air didn't work properly from Romania to Bulgaria until we switched to a new bus from Bosnia to Athens, Christian the owner maintained his bus making sure that everything ran smoothly. He was a caring and phenomenal driver.Show more

In particular, Balkan nights dinner in North Macedonia was terrible (the food was overpriced and poor quality - local lakeside restaurants in Ohrid were amazing with better quality food, better prices and had local traditional performances as well). I would strongly recommend changing the venue and reducing the cost to something closer to what is reflected in the dining scene of the city. This opinion on the Balkan night dinner was shared by many in the group. Overall, I would recommend this trip and had a wonderful time. The trip was an efficient and entertaining way to cover these destinations.Show more

The trip was sold to me as a 19 day tour but it actually was 3 separate tours and folks joined and left at different points. Romania/Bulgaria section was amazing: sights, hotels, guides. The Balkan Section was good but way too much time on buses and too few stops for sights/photo ops along the way. Hotels were also very good. The Greece section hotels were not great. Rooms were tiny. The tour guides were excellent. The local guides were okay but tended to repeat information already provided by the tour guides. Overall a good tour for the price.Show more

- Tuberculosis - Recommended for Bosnia.Bulgaria.Romania. Ideally 3 months before travel.
Visa
- Unfortunately we cannot offer you a visa application service. Whether you need a visa or not depends on your nationality and where you wish to travel. Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.
- Here is an indication for which countries you might need a visa. Please contact the local embassy for help applying for visas to these places.
Payment information
- For any tour departing before November 17th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after November 17th, 2026, a minimum payment of $150 is required to confirm your booking with Travel Talk. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Travel Talk will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
- The following cards are accepted for "Travel Talk" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
