We can only offer a private room upgrade for 2 (twin room) or for 1 (private room). These will have their bathrooms, but only with showers. There will be 2 hostels along the coast that don't offer ensuites, the rooms would still be private. Please note, we don't offer private for your stay on K'Gari (fraser island) and the whitsundays boat.

Our group tours have an age restriction of 18-35, with most participants between 18-27. Most are solo travelers, with only a few coming with friends. Groups are mostly British, German and Dutch, with some Austrian, Swedish, Norwegian, Irish and USA participants. Group sizes can be up to 24, with an average of 10 people on the 7-week tour.

Can I book additional nights at the tour accommodation?

Yes, additional nights before or after your tour can be booked depending on availability at the hostel.

Where will my belongings be stored during day trips?

Your belongings will be stored in your hostel room, it is advised to bring a padlock for securing valuables.

I had Sam P as my tour leader, he made the whole experience so easy and I felt relaxed the whole time. Not only did he excel at the expectations of his job but he also became a friend during this time. He looked after all of us from the moment we met until when we said our goodbyes. He made this tour group into a family and created memories for all of us that I’m sure we will carry with us forever. Of course there were some incidents, that were no fault of Sam’s including delayed grey hounds. One in particular causing people who were participating in the scenic flight, to run straight to the transfer to the flight as the coach arrived the same time their transfer was meant to be leaving. Sam organised all of us and made sure all those people became priority in getting off the bus, while the rest of us concentrated on getting their bags and bringing them with us to the hostel. He remained collected and had control of the situation allowing us to trust him and that stated consistent through out the tour. Considering, this was sam’s first ever tour I believe he went above and beyond to make this experience for us the best he could. And he really allowed us to see the beauty of Australia.Show more

The three weeks were an incredible and unforgettable experience. Our tour guide, Sam, did an excellent job of ensuring we reached every destination on time. Considering it was his very first tour, everything went remarkably smoothly. Sam consistently went above and beyond to ensure that everyone could still participate in activities despite unforeseen delays, such as with a Greyhound bus. Thanks to his dedication, we were still able to make it to experiences like the scenic flight. The amazing people I met along the way also played a significant role in making this trip so memorable. The itinerary was well-planned for the three weeks, though I felt that four nights in Cairns were slightly excessive. It might have been better to spend an additional night in Byron Bay or Sydney instead. Overall, it was an extraordinary experience that I will cherish for a lifetime. Payment information
- For any tour departing before April 7th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after April 7th, 2026, a minimum payment of $40 is required to confirm your booking with Ultimate Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 50 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
