- Day 1
Kuching
A driver picks you up from Kuching airport and takes you to your hotel. Before the 6 pm welcome meeting, you could spend time at the waterfront or stop by the Borneo Cultural Museum if your flight gets in early. After meeting your leader and group, you'll have dinner at a local restaurant where you'll try Malaysian dishes and start getting to know everyone.

- Day 2
Kuching to Batang Ai National Park
You're heading to Batang Ai National Park to walk through remote rainforests where hornbills and gibbons live. The local market in Lachau has traditionally made goods and Iban clothing to browse. From there, a longboat takes you down the Delok River to Nanga Sumpa Lodge, which sits right on the water. At the lodge, you'll have a traditional dinner and learn about their community projects, including scholarships for local kids.

- Day 3
Batang Ai National Park
After breakfast, you take a 2-hour jungle walk through farms and plantations while your leader talks about the region and shows you local plants and foraging. Next comes a longboat ride to Enseluai waterfall where you can swim and cool off. Your leader sets up a picnic lunch with local ingredients at a scenic spot. Back at the lodge, you walk through the village in the afternoon, then visit a traditional longhouse in the evening to learn about Iban life, share rice wine, and talk with locals.

Batang Ai to Kuching
A longboat journey takes you back out of the rainforest toward Kuching, with lunch at a local coffee shop along the way. Once in Kuching, you have free time to wander around. The city has giant cat statues and street art everywhere (Kuching actually means 'cats' in the local language), and there's a cat museum. Your leader can suggest restaurants if you want to check out the local food scene.

Landmarks Kuching Cat Museum - Day 5
Kuching to Mulu National Park
You fly from Kuching to Mulu National Park, which has rainforests, mountains, caves, and unusual rock formations. Your leader explains how the park's geography came together. Late afternoon, you walk on a 3-km plank trail through peat swamp and limestone areas to reach Deer Cave and Lang Cave. At sunset, watch millions of bats circle and leave Deer Cave in ring formations before heading back to your forest bungalows.

- Day 6
Mulu National Park
You explore more caves with your leader today. Wind Cave gets its name from the cool air flowing through it, and you'll see its stalagmites and columns. After that, Clearwater Cave is next (one of Asia's longest caves) with its dramatic chambers and jagged rock. The rest of your day is free to relax and take in the park's scenery.

Mulu to Kota Kinabalu
A flight takes you to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah's main city. Late in the afternoon after you arrive, head to a rooftop bar to have a cocktail and watch the sunset over the skyline. The evening is yours to explore. Ask your leader about local restaurants that aren't on the typical tourist path for dinner.

Kota Kinabalu
Your morning is free to do what you want. Try snorkeling in Tunku Abdul Rahman Park to look for marine life, visit the cultural village, or stay in the city to see the waterfront handicraft market or walk through Chinatown. Your leader can help you plan. In the afternoon, you visit a local vegetable and fish market to learn about and taste regional snacks. Dinner is at a local restaurant.

Kota Kinabalu to Kinabatangan River
You fly to Sandakan and see the War Memorial, learning about the city's history and the former Japanese POW camp site where the Death Marches began. From there, a boat takes you to Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort on the riverbanks (it has wooden boardwalks and chalets overlooking mangrove forests). In the afternoon, go on a river cruise to spot wildlife like crocodiles, macaques, wild orangutans, proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and kingfishers. After dinner at the resort, a night walk with headlamps lets you search for nocturnal insects and animals.

- Day 10
Kinabatangan River
An early morning wildlife cruise starts before sunrise through the fog, with light refreshments while you look for birds and wildlife, especially long-tailed and pig-tailed macaques. Back at the resort after breakfast, you search the property with your leader for insects, plants, and birds. Afternoon brings a boat trip through small tributaries. Later, another night cruise searches for nocturnal animals (you might spot a wide-eyed slow loris hanging from branches). Have dinner at the resort and relax.

- Day 11
Kinabatangan River to Sandakan
A boat takes you back to Sandakan where you visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre to watch orangutans swing on ropes and vines. You'll also see the outdoor nursery caring for young orangutans born in captivity or orphaned. Next is the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre with the world's smallest bears recovering in large forest enclosures after rescue. The evening ends with a final group dinner in Borneo.

After breakfast, your Borneo adventure wraps up. If you want to stay longer, contact your booking agent about extra accommodation. Flights leave most days from Sandakan to Kota Kinabalu or Kuala Lumpur, but you'll need to arrange these yourself.
