Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Bressanone

Your trip starts in Bressanone with pickup of travel documents and rental bikes if you've reserved them. Spend the afternoon wandering through the old town at a relaxed pace, getting a feel for the layout and charming streets you'll be cycling through over the next few days.

  2. Day 2

    Bressanone to Bolzano

You'll cycle on a converted railway track that runs from Bressanone down to Bolzano, a route that descends gradually through some really nice scenery. The path takes you past the medieval town of Chiusa where you can see the Säben monastery, then through narrowing valleys lined with vineyards typical of northern Italy. Once you reach Bolzano, there's time to check out the arcades and the Ötzi museum (free entry with your Bressanone Card), plus Piazza Walther. Afterward, you'll hop on a train back to Bressanone.

  3. Day 3

    Bressanone

A shuttle bus takes you up to Elvas in the morning, and from there you'll cycle through gentle, rolling terrain across orchards with great views down into the Puster Valley and Isarco Valley. The route connects several small villages together. On the way back, stop at the Augustinian Abbey of Neustift where they keep the world's smallest Bible, which is a fairly unique piece to see.

The ride takes you through Gossensass and then to Vipiteno, a historic city with ties to the Fugger family. You'll have a longer break here to rest and grab food, then continue downhill past Castle Reifenstein and Franzensfeste fortress before heading back to Bressanone with just a few kilometers left to cover.

  5. Day 5

    Bressanone

This is a shorter cycling day with a gentle uphill stretch to Lake Varna. If you want, there's a Kneipp facility in Varna where you can refresh yourself. Since the distance is manageable, you'll have extra time to use your Bressanone Card for things like cable car rides up Plose, museum visits, guided tours, or hiking depending on what interests you.

You'll pass the striking green waters of the Olang reservoir near Brunico, which has a local history museum nearby. Everything was so well organised we could just relax and ride the bikes. We hired bikes and they were in great condition and gave us no problems- I would definitely recommend this holiday. The accomodation was excellent too.

It was well organised - luggage delivery was great, but the ride was too long in the same countryside which became monotonous and the trail took you through a lot of unattractive industrial and urban areas.

    Asked on July 28th, 2024

Is an e-bike available and how much does it cost to rent?

    Tour Details
    • EurobikeOperatorWritten July 2024

An e-bike is available and cost 259 € for the tour. The tour is still bookable here at Tourradar, but it is already blocked for September. So from August 27th to September 17th this tour is no longer possible.

  • J

    Janet

    Asked on December 25th, 2023

Can you please advise as to where we can hire bikes from? Also the types of bikes available - gearing, hybrid/mountain, e-bikes?

    Transport
    • EurobikeOperatorWritten December 2023

When you book a tour from eurobike, you can always also rent bikes from us directly. For the Brixen Tour we offer the following bikes:
      - 21-gears unisex with freewheel
      - 21-gear gents with freewheel and diamond frame
      - 7-gears unisex with coaster brake

      - Electric bike 8-speed with hub gears

All of our rental bikes come with a Saddle bag (water-repellent), Handlebar bag (water-repellent), Service-Set with tools and extra bicycle tube, Pump and a Combination lock.

    Joyce

    Asked on August 27th, 2023

I'd like to have more info about the different types of bikes we can rent. Could you explain specifically the difference between the regular bike and the PLUS model?

    Tour Details
    Transport
    • EurobikeOperatorWritten August 2023

The rental bike Plus is a little more sporty, elegant and high quality. It comes with a crossbar, so it is not a ladies bike. The rental bike PLUS allows a slightly sportier seating position, finely graduated gears offer maximum flexibility and a high-quality Suntour suspension fork best possible comfort on all roads. Also, it has 27-gears. The regular rental bike unisex has 21-/24 gears and is with a deep entry. That's the rough difference.
