The tents will be provided but we do have a mandatory packing list for gear that you will need to bring. Some items like sleeping bag, sleeping mat, raincoat, backpack can be hired locally at $60 per item if requested prior to travel.

Expect the weight of your pack to be up to 15 kg. This includes a portion of the food for the trip, and a share of a tent which will be around 1.4 kg. Mandatory packing list includes a backpack - at least 65 litres & waterproof pack cover.

I was impressed with the food presented at meal times. Fresh salad for the wraps at lunch and hot cooked breakfast and evening meals. The guides had a keen eye for spotting things that needed attention before it became a bigger problem. I was in awe of the guides strength in carrying the extra 10 or more kgs than what I had on my back. All staff were highly professonal and pleasant company all through the experience. Sure it would have been radical to do the hike independently; cheaper yet more daunting, lonely, and stressful and ultimately I would've kept procrastinating and never reached my goal of hiking Cradle Mountain. The equipment was top notch, the guides were superb, the food was amazing (and very unexpected) and the knowledge of the hike, flora and fauna and the area itself were second to none.Show more

  One other thing that I did not recall seeing is the distance and elevation gain/loss per day of the hike.

  Day 1 walk from Ronny Creek to Waterfall Valley is approximately 10km (6.5 miles), which will take about 4-5 hours. Day 2 is approximately 8 km (5 miles). Day 3 is approximately 17 km (10.5 miles). Day 4 is approximately 9 km (5.5 miles). Day 5 is approximately 10 km (6 miles). Day 6 is approximately 10 km (6 miles).

- For any tour departing before May 16th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after May 16th, 2026, a minimum payment of $400 is required to confirm your booking with Intrepid Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
