It's an experience to travel to see so many things and places in just four days. Berat and Kruje were beautiful places to visit. The castles were scenic. North Macedonia Ohrid is a must see. If you could do a 2 nights stay there it would be more wonderful. Skopje has beautiful monuments, statues and bridges. Kosovo was alright, more of a city. But in total, all worth the visit. The weather is March is just nice. The guide was helpful and knowledgeable.Show more

We saw a lot in 4 days, the drives never felt too long, we were very comfortable and the views were beautiful. Our tour guide, Gentjan, is not only the most considerate, cultured and welcoming tour guide, but also one of the kindest, generous and insightful humans we ever met. We are deeply grateful for the eye-opening experience he provided us with. We learned greatly about the history and culture while also having fun. I particularly enjoyed beautiful Ohrid. The tour is well-organised, with good accommodation and flexible pace. I would totally recommend this tour for anyone looking for an amazing overview of these 3 countries in a short period of time. We would be happy to address the points raised: The tour booked was a standard tour which runs on a thoughtfully pre-planned itinerary. It happened that on your specific travel dates no other guests booked, giving us (the tour guide) the opportunity to offer you a more dedicated service, beyond the standard tour program. However, please note this was not a Private Tour. Delays created by you by taking the tour in a more relaxed manner (eg checking out from the hotel at 10am when departure was at 9am) changed our schedule and logistics each day. Since the two of you were the only travelers in the tour, we did our best to adapt to all possible changes. However, requests such as driving into UNESCO sites and pedestrian bridges were not viable as it is not allowed. Sorry but we are unable to fulfill such requests. Before tour departure, we provide guests (including yourself) with a list of our long-standing partner hotels to ensure transparency. We note that you asked for your accommodation to be ‘changed’ and were offered the option to upgrade during the tour, however you opted not to, stating the hotels ‘seem to be ok’ after all. We as Choose Balkans are doing our best to 'go green' as much as possible. And yes, we are proud to use electric cars to help the environment. These cars are charged overnight and during breaks such as walking tours. In this instance, we understand you did not wish to partake in walking activities which in turn, changed our day-to-day plans, having had to drive from point to point as if it were a private tour. Our guides are all certified, educated and extremely knowledgeable in history, another thing we are proud of at Choose Balkans. We note your comments that ‘the car, guide and tour was excellent’ at the beginning of the tour and are perplexed by your comment that ‘He was not a proper guide’. Specifically, your tour guide has a rich background in archeology and is highly experienced in guiding tours in the Balkans. Being in daily communication with you and the tour guide, we know he went above and beyond to make your experience a wonderful one. Once again we are very sorry to read that our tour did not meet your expectations. We really tried our best to make your Balkan experience as enjoyable as possible. Choose Balkans used a freelancer who is an unlicensed tour guide and self-proclaimed hiking guide. He did not know hardly any history and would invent information when asked something he did not know. His English was hard to understand too. He had bad time management skills by disregarding when the winter sun set, not knowing the winter museum hours, and driving half of the speed limit. Thus, we missed a UNESCO museum, could not see the castle grounds or countryside while driving for hours after sunset, and did not have free time as mentioned in the itinerary. He was very kind, but obviously not qualified as a tour guide for 4 days in December. Since it was off season, we should have been booked into hotels in the old town centers. At 2 hotels, I was given unenclosed showers, so water went everywhere, including on towels and my stuff. Sirma at Choose Balkans was very quick and thorough when responding to my questions and did daily follow-up during the tour. Unfortunately, nothing could be done to change guides during the tour over the holidays. I would NOT recommend using Choose Balkans.Show more

It's crucial to mention that the guide is licensed in Albania; however, unfortunately there is not such a thing as a unified license covering all countries. He has successfully led tours in all the destinations you visited, showcasing extensive knowledge of the Balkans region. Despite that your feedback didn't go unnoticed, after receiving your review form we took immediate action and sat down with the tour leader Idirs. We addressed all your concerns so other customers don’t have to face similar situations. Regarding the driving practices of our leader, the safety of our guests remains our utmost priority. Our drivers are instructed to adhere strictly to speed limits during tours. We do understand sometimes it might feel too slow, however, we have to respect speed limit restrictions for your own safety. We were not aware that you were not satisfied with your tour guide until we received the detailed review form. That is why our team has tried to reach out on you multiple times during the tour, seeking your input on the leader, vehicle, hotels, etc. However, we got no feedback from you while on the tour. If we would have known in time, we would have changed him with someone else to show you our readiness and commitment to make your holidays as enjoyable as possible. However, we understand your preference for staying in the old town center, especially during the off-season, we will for sure take this feedback into consideration. Visa
- Unfortunately we cannot offer you a visa application service. Whether you need a visa or not depends on your nationality and where you wish to travel. Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.
- Here is an indication for which countries you might need a visa. Please contact the local embassy for help applying for visas to these places.
Payment information
- For any tour departing before May 22nd, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after May 22nd, 2026, a minimum payment of 50% is required to confirm your booking with Choose Balkans. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 67 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Choose Balkans will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
- The following cards are accepted for "Choose Balkans" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
Cancellation Policy
- Your money is safe with TourRadar, as we only pay the tour operator after your tour has departed.
