The liberty in Ho Chi Mihn city was underwhelming also. BUT! THE PEOPLE WERE THE BEST! The only thing I would change on the itinerary would be that we went to My Son there was a show about every hour or so. Our guide had us leave instead of watching the dancers. We took are two teenage sons and there were a few days where we had too many temples. - TRTamra· October 25th, 2024All in all, this was a really good experience. The hotels were very nice and well located, (I upgraded to the 4 star option), the tour guides were very knowledgeable, and the sites visited were very interesting. Our group of 4 was combined with other groups for the tours, but our largest group was only 16. Most of our tours were a total of 8-10 people. The only hiccup was the transportation day from Halong Bay/Hanoi to Hoi An. We were told to leave our luggage at the hotel in Hanoi and take only an overnight bag to the boat on Halong Bay. Because of this, we had to go back to the hotel to get our luggage the next day instead of being able to go straight to the airport. Our flight was scheduled for 7pm to accommodate this. Had we gone straight to the airport, we could have booked an earlier flight. As it was, our flight was delayed for two hours, meaning we didn't get to our hotel until after 11pm. This was a pretty much wasted day, as all we did after a quick early morning excursion was ride, wait, ride, wait, and wait. I also wish there was a little more free time during the afternoon for personal exploration. Most of our tours ended between 4 and 5 pm, some even later, so there was not much daylight left after that. The accommodations were good, vietnamese people are very welcoming. It would be perfect if the lunches were in higher restaurants (the ones we went to were corrects). We upgraded to 5 star accommodation and were very pleased with the hotels and boat trip. Halong Bay was a real highlight for us as it wasn’t too busy in the off season. We could have reduced Hoi An by a day as we aren’t shoppers though understand why it would appeal to most.
