I am 63 and in good physical shape why is there an age maximum?

We're a youth operator, so the majority of our customers are aged 18-30. Therefore we have to enforce a maximum age as that is our brand identity.

Do you accept credit card to book? Fares are not included, if I book it, is the arrival in San Jose, and do you provide transport from the airport to the hotel, is there a fee? What about return flights, do we go back to San Jose or we depart other than San Jose, are all breakfasts included, if lunch or dinner is not included, are there restaurants available where we can buy food?

Unfortunately as we are a youth brand, we can only accept travellers between the age of 18-39. We do make an exception of up to 45 years old, but as you've listed that you have children, we wouldn't be able to assist with this enquiry.

My sister and I are looking at this tour. We are 70 and 60 years old. Can we book?

Unfortunately we have a maximum age limit of 45 years old on our tours.

What's the realistic average group size for the trip in March? Though it says a 4-20, how many typically travel?

Would the tour still be on if there are only less than 3 people in the group? Or will there be flexibility to change it if the number is too less?

We have a minimum age of 18 on our tours, and a maximum age of 45. I noted that you said it was 2 adults and 1 children, which makes me believe you may be outside of the age range for this product.

What time on november 6th do we have to meet for the one nov 6-15?

The only activity on day 1 of tour is the welcome meeting / dinner which is held around 6-7pm. As long as you arrive before then you are all good! I would recommend arriving around early afternoon to give you time to check in and chill before meeting the group.

Are you able to let me know what the driving time is each day just so I have a better gauge of the amount in total for the trip.

Travel times can vary depending on traffic, road conditions, and the specific itinerary. While there are sections of the trip that involve travelling by minibus, we do our best to keep drives comfortable, include regular stops, and balance travel time with plenty of activities and sightseeing.

Is there a way for us to get transportation back to san jose after the tour?

The tour ends in Santa Teresa, the nearest airport is Juan Santamaría International Airport, San Jose (SJO.) There is a shuttle bus that goes form Santa Teresa to San Jose (SJO) airport. This costs around $50. The Shuttle runs from 06:45am arriving at 2pm and at 2.45pm arriving at 9.30pm. Therefore we recommend not booking a flight earlier than 5pm. This can be booked via your guide once on tour.

What happens if I need to cancel the trip due to emergency circumstances such as surgery?

If cancellation occurs due to emergencies like unplanned surgery, it would result in a 100% loss unless covered by personal travel insurance.

I'm a robust 78, hike 3 miles every morning, then weights. will you exclude me?

Not enough words to describe how great Gema was! From start to finish she was an excellent tour guide. She showed a great knowledge of Costa Rica. She was very organised and the trip ran so smoothly. She communicated so well with the locals, and if there were any problems along the way we didn’t notice because she dealt with everything. She communicated well with us, even before the trip started to make sure everything was organised. Gema had the most amazing energy, we all loved her instantly. She has such a warmth that made us all feel comfortable on an otherwise daunting trip! We could see that she carried the same energy to whoever she met - it was clear how much the locals at the homestay loved Gema, as well as our bus drivers and anyone we met. Gema provided fun, bubbly, positive energy which was infectious to all of us. Gema went above and beyond her role as tour guide, continuing to help us even after our tour had ended, offering to book dinners for us etc. I couldn’t fault Gema as a tour guide, and think she is a complete asset to TruTravels, she will be great at whatever she does in her future endeavours, and is without a doubt the reason that we loved Costa Rica so much.Show more

Gema was an absolutely incredible guide. she was obviously very knowledgeable and organized as a guide which made the logistics of the trip run smoothly, but her energy was what made the trip so incredible and memorable. she was so friendly and accepting and was excited to meet new people and include everyone in our activities. even with the locals and people that we were working with, it was so obvious that everyone loves her and being around her. she was able to make you feel comfortable immediately even though it was nerve wracking to do this trip alone with no idea what to expect in terms of relationships and connections with the other girls. she facilitated our connections in the beginning very well with ice breakers and just being an overall ball of good energy that you can relate and connect to very well. Gema was absolutely the reason that this trip was everything and more that i had hoped for when I booked this solo trip to Costa Rica.Show more

Gema has been absolutely amazing for this entire tour — It was my first experience of doing travel this way, and she made me feel so comfortable and welcomed from day one. No question was a silly one, and she provided activities for everyone. She’s been super engaging and active in getting everyone involved with the locals, and that’s made this experience all the more better. She was always available and answered all questions with a friendly face and never with delay. She very quickly became more of a friend than a tour guide and has helped me with my Spanish a lot when she really just didn't need to.
