She showed a great knowledge of Costa Rica. She was very organised and the trip ran so smoothly. She communicated so well with the locals, and if there were any problems along the way we didn’t notice because she dealt with everything. She communicated well with us, even before the trip started to make sure everything was organised.
Gema had the most amazing energy, we all loved her instantly. She has such a warmth that made us all feel comfortable on an otherwise daunting trip!
We could see that she carried the same energy to whoever she met - it was clear how much the locals at the homestay loved Gema, as well as our bus drivers and anyone we met.
Gema provided fun, bubbly, positive energy which was infectious to all of us.
Gema went above and beyond her role as tour guide, continuing to help us even after our tour had ended, offering to book dinners for us etc.
I couldn’t fault Gema as a tour guide, and think she is a complete asset to TruTravels, she will be great at whatever she does in her future endeavours, and is without a doubt the reason that we loved Costa Rica so much.

Gema was absolutely the reason that this trip was everything and more that i had hoped for when I booked this solo trip to Costa Rica.

I felt really nervous coming into this Journey but as soon as I saw Gema’s big warm smile and she gave me a big hug I knew she would support me and I felt excited for the journey ahead!! (I’m now very sad it’s come to an end!!). Throughout our travels Gema took us to the most amazing food spots and really showed us the most amazing parts of Costa Rica!! Seeing the butterflies at Suapi restaurant was an incredible experience!! But there was also so many other highlights for me, including the home stay, sunset yoga and climbing up the volcano!! Gema’s general knowledge of the area was incredible and I loved learning about the places we visited along our travels!! Gema always got involved in activities with us and it was really lovely getting to know each other and hearing about her travels - I found this very inspiring for my future travels!! I cannot recommend tours led by Gema enough, THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER, an amazing adventure xx ??

It’s obvious she is very passionate about travel and has put in a lot of effort into the logistics of the train links and the itinerary. Her communication was excellent keeping us updated via the group chat with the relevant tickets and reminders of the activities/timings of everything hours in advance. Top tier tour guide would travel again with her 👍

The itinerary was jam packed with such things to do from adventurous canyoneering and beautiful boat days to beaches with snorkelling and kayaking in crystal clear waters and staying on a private island watching the sun set and luminous plankton from our beach huts!
Gema was great throughout giving us so many good options and recommendations, making sure we were all happy and getting out of the trip what we wanted to taking care of us all the way! It was like travelling with your best friends!

Even before the trip, there was a lot of communication and information which meant everyone got to know each other and it made everything run so smoothly.
She was very knowledgeable and knew a lot about every city we visited, the best things to see, places to eat and there were always multiple recommendations to suit everyone.

Gema is always so upbeat and positive which provided a really good group dynamic helping us to bond and stay in good spirits on the long traveling days.

In the past I have had a lot of anxiety around travelling and have had some bad experiences in the past, but with Gema I was finally able to understand why people enjoy travel so much!! Her organisation of the catamaran in Venice when our river cruise was cancelled was a highlight of the trip for many of us, and she always ensured we felt safe and no one got left behind- really important for an all-female trip. She was cheerful and kind, giving us lots of recommendations for our free time around the city. She was also really accommodating of people's preferences- when I didn't want to do the morning cycle in Bled but said I wanted to go for a walk, she was encouraging of this. When one of the girls was ill and needed to rest on the morning of the thermal baths, Gema gave her her ticket so she could go a little later. She encouraged us to have confidence and get to know each other- as a result, I have made so many lovely friends on this trip and for the first time in a long time, I am excited for my next trip!

WOW!! I truly cannot say enough about Gema, she is truly an amazing tour guide! Her knowledge of the history and culture in each country/city was so impressive and helpful, along with her knowledge in…WOW!! Her knowledge of the history and culture in each country/city was so impressive and helpful, along with her knowledge in the transit options and tips and trick on traversing the city. Her kind heart and fun nature made this trip truly the best. She became more of a friend than a guide while still maintaining professionalism. Not once was she not upbeat and optimistic, she never once hesitated to jump into action to work for a solution, regardless of if it was for a dumb tourist question or an unforeseen hiccup in our itinerary. While we had some issues with one of our accommodations and our parent travel agency was lacking in assistance, Gema worked with us and assisted us in booking other accommodations which she did not have to do. Again, I truly cannot say enough good things about Gema and her work as a tour guide. While I’ll miss the beautiful cities, culture and food of Europe, I will miss the upbeat, optimistic, smiling face of Gema as well!!

Her energy has made this a once in a lifetime experience. She is fun yet attentive, inclusive and organised. She showed us the best of each place and put a lot of work into each trip which was obvious through her knowledge, messages and recommendations. She was so helpful without being suffocating. I couldn’t thank her enough for helping us out when tru travels dropped the ball on our last accommodation (had bed bugs) and she not only found the accommodation but booked it for us too. It was a very expensive trip but if it all went to Gema it was worth every dime. Could not recommend her more!
I love going to all the places but definitely could have spent longer in some places, especially Italy, where we didn’t even make it to Rome which would have been great. I loved it being all girls and made some great friends who I’m sure I’ll travel with again in the future. As a solo traveller this was definitely the way to go and I loved every minute. I’d be very keen to go on another however I do believe it was expensive for what it is, Gema however, deserved every dime. I was disappointed at the lack of effort by try travels to help us find and financially cover alternative accommodation when our last hostel had terrible reviews about bed bugs just days prior but Gema herself went above and beyond to help book alternative arrangements. Loved the trip!

This was my first time travelling solo and she made the experience so easy and enjoyable. She took the time to get to know the whole group of girls so we felt safe and comfortable with her. She shared plans and recommendations in a timely manner and was always so patient with answering questions and sharing further information. It was clear that Gema had taken the time to really get to know the destinations on the trip and she was always so enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge. I wouldn’t think twice about going on another tour with Gema!

She was very attentive made sure she got to know everyone on the trip and was a friendly face every day who we knew we could speak to, she made sure everyone on the trip was kept up to date with travel plans to different destinations, letting us know the stops and how to validate tickets, as well as the best way to travel around a city (tram, bus, metro). Group activities, Providing us with daily itineraries, when we had free time and where to meet after for group dinners, and organising activities but gave us plenty time and help if we wanted to explore before the group went out together. Group Meals, Gema picked great spots for us to grab a bite to eat together and was accommodating to my allergies which was greatly appreciated. Voting on the whatsapp chat was a great as it have people plenty options to choose from whilst keeping things organised, always being available via text if we needed anything during our free time as well as the google maps shared euro rail list which had some great recommendations on it. Gema shared helpful tips of things to try in each city as well as small bits of the language to try whilst taking to locals.

If you need advice (no matter what subject) she’s always there and gives her honest and most helpful opinion. She recommended a lot of good places to eat or where to spend the afternoon, all of them were amazing and so many options! We loved her enthusiasm, she is very optimistic and always smiling (I will definitely be missing this). Thank you Gema for making this an unforgettable trip! I really really recommend going on a Gals Who Travel trip, if you’re doubting, don’t! The atmosphere is amazing and all of the girls are super lovely and friendly. Truly memories that will last a lifetime! :)

Gema was a lovely tour leader and so attentive throughout the whole tour. She not only took on the role as a tour leader but a friend as well, getting to know each of us individually. I am very thankful to have had Gema as my tour leader and would be more inclined to book another tour again if i knew she was going to be the guide.
She was also very knowledgeable in all areas and aspects of the tour being able to give us lots of information about landmarks.

From the first day to the finish, Gema had such a great energy and enthusiasm!
Throughout the trip I felt safe and at ease in the comfort that the travel logistics were cared for. At each location Gema gave us all the important information we needed and gave us tips on how to best enjoy our time in each city / area. When participating in group activities Gema made sure everyone was included if they wished, she became a part of our collective girl group, not just our tour guide. It was amazing to connect to such an interesting, creative person and share our own experiences of travel and life.
It was great to see the passion Gema has for her job and the relationships and connections to the locations she has because of her role and welcoming personality. An amazing and unforgettable trip, thank you Gema!! ??

Gemma was always warm, caring, positive and looked out for us every step of the way, always ensuring we were safe, happy, and having the time of our lives. It felt less like being led by a guide and more like traveling with a close friend who always had our best interests at heart.

Lake bled was one of the most beautiful places I have visited and I’m so glad I got the chance to visit, I would have loved to stay longer and stay another day in Vienna. Gema has been an amazing tour guide and she had a great bubbly attitude and this has rubbed off on the group. She is full of knowledge on the countries we have visited and has gone above and beyond to make this experience unforgettable.

She’s really made this experience so special for me, always so positive and feel like shes gone above and beyond with absolutely everything on this trip and I can confidently say that on behalf of everyone. She’s touched everyone’s hearts and I’m leaving the trip feeling so warm inside with so much love.
Communication was great! It was so lovely to receive each message with all the information I needed to go about the day with clear instructions, key points including timing, meet points, activities& itineraries etc. Gema was always on hand for any questions, concerns etc and felt completely comfortable going to her and I feel that is so important.
The whole experience has been great, would recommend to anyone and will be something I’ll treasure forever. It’s allowed me to step outside of my comfort zone, meet new girlies, explore beautiful countries, eat delicious delicacy’s, all whilst traveling by rail which has been so much fun and really not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I’ve definitely felt abit anxious along the way because for sure at points can feel abit overwhelming but the support of Gema and all the beautiful girlies on the trip have made me feel at ease and I’ve felt I can really be myself and able to let my personality shine.
Just want to say a massive thank you for the opportunity, I am very grateful I’ve even been able to go on a trip like this but to gain what I have has been a true highlight and I’m very lucky.
If anyone is able to, I’d say go for it, you won’t regret it (hopefully😅)!!

I have never travelled to any of the countries on this trip, definitely a bucket list moment! Every destination on this trip surprised me in the best way. I have never seen so many beautiful countries, cultures, buildings and food! Lake Bled was definitely my favourite, even though I’d never heard of it before this trip! Gema was so knowledgeable about the travelling and cultures of all different countries. I really feel like I have seen it all because of her. Gema is one of the most amazing and inspirational people I have met in my life. She is fearless and will always be a role model to me. I have never felt more safe on a trip with 22 girls that I didn’t even know a couple of weeks ago! I never once felt anxious about the travelling, even when our train broke down and weren’t sure what to do, I knew Gema was on it. She made me feel safe. She a such a light of life and this trip would not have been the same without her. She is so much fun and always made us laugh. She made every single one of us feel special! Gema will always be the most beautiful flower in our hearts 🩷

The guides were helpful, very down to earth, and made sure that everyone were seen and included in the group.
I have met a lot of new and unforgettable people, seen a lot of nice sights, and gotten myself way out of my comfort zone by attending this tour. I will definetly do this again someday.

Gemma cares infinitely for her tour guests and the places we visited. She has a heart more giving and hopeful than many many people I have encountered in life. Knowledgable, approachable and sociable! I would not be able to visit again with a different tour guide. She made this trip amazing for me and it felt like a personalised gift. Unfortunately I became unwell for a couple of days throughout the tour and Gema was great throughout, she constantly checked up on me to make sure I was okay and even arranged a later check out on the day I was unwell.
Would definitely recommend both Gema and TruTravels for anyone solo travelling and wanting to join a tour. A great 17 days with so many memories!

Guide, she really did make dreams come true, the experience more than matched, Infact blew my expectations out of the water! We met locals, traveled the sea’s, met amazing characters on the way, saw beautiful sun sets, explored islands, swam with all sorts of creatures and fishes, did dare devil activities and tried unique cuisines, we made memories and shared laughs, and the best part about it was the fact it is also all optional when you are out there, you do not feel unsafe or pressured into doing something. the trip was just one big 5 star movie, and all thanks to Gema this couldn’t have happened with out her and my dream is satisfied… for now! Gema made this trip so amazing! You could tell she genuinely has a passion for the country. The locals all along the route seem to love her and I can tell why! Not just an amazing tour guide but a fri…Gema made this trip so amazing! You could tell she genuinely has a passion for the country. The locals all along the route seem to love her and I can tell why! Not just an amazing tour guide but a friend also, so kind and caring. I seemed to injure myself a few times on the trip and she was always checking on me and randomly popping up with useful medical supplies. It’s the small touches the make the difference and Gema has got that. Any traveler would be lucky to have Gema as a tour guide!

My boyfriend and I joined the tour for the East portion and Gema made us feel like we had been there from the beginning. Gema is very calm and relaxed but she is always keep an eye out on everyone to make sure everyone is okay and help out if anyone is feeling unwell or had any small injuries. Huge thank you to Gema, we had an amazing trip and it wouldn’t have been the same without her

She was my tour guide for an amazing 17 day island hopping tour around the Philippines and I can’t begin to explain how much I appreciated having her. Forget her amazing personality and nurturing character for a second! As a tour guide I don’t think I could have asked for someone better. My tour was the first Phillipines tour she’s guided solo and you could not have guessed that. Her knowledge of the islands and the local areas, the relationships she already had with some of the local villages, the amount of Filipino she can speak, the ease with which she was able to navigate us all around, you’d have thought she’s been doing this in the Phillipines for years. Gema was always on the ball with everything. She was professional, organised, had everything planned, made sure we knew the itinerary down to the minutes so as to make sure everything run smoothly - which it did. The flights, ferries, vans rides - it was all so seamless. I can’t imagine having to babysit 15 adults, some of which are always late, some are complaining, some have issues needing to be dealt with - but Gema made it seem so easy. She never had a word of complaint, everything seemed to be cruisey with her. From breakfasts, to dinner bookings, to fun night life, she had all the ins and outs we needed. For all the scrapes, grazes and bruises, she was our first aider. Any problem I had or any concerns, I felt comfort in knowing I just had to ask/talk to Gema and she’d have all the answers. She made the tour better than I could have ever imagined. Truly felt like I could leave my life in her hands, feeling so safe with her.
Back to her as a person! The vibes and personality on this woman are just unmatched! It’s exactly what you need in a tour guide. Someone you can connect with almost immediately, which makes you so comfortable and at ease. I was doing this tour as a solo traveler, which is very nerve racking, but Gema made me feel welcomed and loved almost immediately which made settling in so much easier than I’d expected. She was able to connect with our 21 year olds just as much as our 65 year old - making both feel part of our family. Gema is truly a gem (pun intended) and as soon as she moves on to a different country, me and a few others have already planned to join that tour, because we know she’ll give us the best experience. So many tears were shed when we departed ways with Gema, absolute legend! ❤️

Having already travelled with Tru last year on the Costa Rica tour, I was nervous about venturing on this one having had such a memorable experience last year…woweeeeeeee these last few weeks we been living in actual paradise, and made all the more even better (if that was even possible) by Gema…our incredibly kind tour guide whose knowledge, passion and charisma made the whole trip an absolute dream and I’m so fricken lucky to call her a buddy for life! I mean…who else would put plasters on my sunburnt, peeling, dirty toes? Very few friends indeed!
If ever anyone is even contemplating coming to the Philippines, without a doubt book it, book it with Tru and pray that you get Gema! The whole tour is run so smoothly with no hiccups whatsoever and I would never have been able to book all the things we did/transport/hotels/location/seen the places we experienced etc if it wasn’t for Tru.
Gema you’re a true legend and I cannot wait for you to venture into other countries…where’s the sign up sheet for those tours?!

Gema was so incredibly lovely as a guide on the Philippines tour. She was SO much fun, her energy and passion was always amazing and she was always ensuring that people were enjoying themselves. Gema is so enthusiastic about life and the Philippines and radiates such incredible energy that you always feel good when she's around. Gema has great people skills and was so good at speaking with the locals also. She would ask them plenty of questions so that she could learn about the places we went and pass on her knowledge to us. There is honestly nothing I can fault her on and even though it was her first tour, I can imagine she could have a brilliant career as a guide.

Where do I start, Gema is an absolute asset to Tru and has treated us all like her family. With Alex by her side they ensured the tour went as smoothly as possible. They always looked after us and ensured that we were having the best time. As someone who is not the fittest, they always waited for me to catch up but didn’t make me feel like a burden to the group. Gema has always checked in with me and made sure that I was ok, anything I needed or any questions I had were always answered. Gema and Alex have become more of a friend rather than tour guides and I will be so sad to leave when the tour comes to an end. Gem and Alex have dealt with any issues seamlessly but have made things so much fun, their love for life and travelling is infectious and I would consider booking on another tour because of them.

Safety wasn’t really covered in the orientation & we had a “May day” call on the first day of travel. The captain did not communicate this to us.

Aside from the amazing islands we visited, the way the trip was organised was really good. The island hopping days were great, the extra few days in Moalboal and Boracay were great to be able to add in some scuba diving, parasailing and swimming with whale sharks. Doing the Philippines with a tour made life so much easier! I would 100% recommend.
