  A friend highly recommended Intrepid Tours and raved about their exceptional experiences. So, I decided to take their recommendation to heart and booked your Premium Turkey in Depth departing Istanbul on October 13th, with Emre as our guide and leader. I had great anticipation after reading previous reviews and the narrative that accompanied my itinerary. That anticipation was dashed as the tour evolved and turned to dismay that Intrepid would assign a guide/leader who was so unprepared. I say that will all due respect as Emre acknowledged that he had not lead a tour like ours (with a 15 day itinerary) in quite a few years. In fact his main expertise is Istanbul and Cappadocia, not all the other locations. So, we received his expertise on 6 of the 15 day tour. I would like to share several safety issues which prompt me to give the overall tour rating as I did “POOR”. * In Pamukkale after arriving with only 90 minutes of daylight, our guide gave us about 60 minutes to explore Paukkale. However, most of that time DARK. After arriving at the designated meeting point at 7pm, our leader was confused as to how to return to our van. So, we spent 20-30 stumbling in the dark until, we finally followed another guide. There was no explanation or apology. * On our first evening in Cappadocia, we were driven to an overlook to watch a sunset and enjoy refreshments. Unbeknownst to us, in order for us to return to our hotel, we had to WALK over 1.5 miles in the DARK on a very busy street. As we walked, we saw other tourist vans returning their guests to their designated hotels. Once again there was no explanation or apology. * The narrative in our itinerary mentioned a trip to explore Love Valley. When asked when this excursion would take place, our guide said it wasn’t part of his itinerary. Only after pointing out what the itinerary stated, did he reluctantly agree to take us to Love Valley. Once there, he provided a brief overview. When asked how we would find the path to the Valley, he pointed to a car along the valley’s rim. We started off in that direction and soon realized we were misguided. There was not path and in effect if we did try to descend as he pointed there would have been serious injuries. We then call our leader for further clarification, his response was annoyance. He subsequently drove us in the opposite direction, for over 10 minutes, were there was a road, path and other tourist enjoying the wonders of Love Valley. I could recite other incidents were our guide was indifferent or demonstrated a lack of knowledge or enthusiasm, but my main point was to draw your attention to these “SAFETY” issues. I hope these examples will be investigated to ensure subsequent guest will have a more positive and safe experience. Ed Fritz PS: I’m a retired individual who has traveled to over 64 countries and been on 9 tours so far in 2022. I’m recounting this not to brag, but to say that this experience was not what I expected from Intrepid given their reputation.Show more

  This trip has totally exceeded my expectations. This has been mainly due to Ugur our tour leader who was also our guide. His leadership and knowledge has been extraordinary and we had an absolute ball. We learned so much about Turkey, its history, its people and culture including its delicious cuisine. The ancient places we visited and and the history of them was passed on to us by Ugur in an easy to understand way that encouraged us to find out more and ask questions. The accommodation was mainly in the old town, close to the sights and of exceptional quality. Another highlight was our day boat trip to the Kekova Sunken City that provided us with the opportunity to relax and have a swim in the turquoise water. All in all a great trip that gives you an exceptional advertiser for going and see more of Turkey.Show more

I spent 1&1/2 hours going from gate to gate, having to transition security multiple times before finding my driver. Also was really brassed off that you could not make alternative arrangements when my hotel on Istanbul was cancelled 24 hours before I left New Zealand for the start ofy tripShow more

  This trip gave a great overview of Turkey. Fatih made the trip better with his passion, knowledge and knack of knowing just how much to deliver. Our group got on really well which enhanced the trip for me. It was helpful to take up Fatih’s restaurant suggestions. The only thing which would have increased my enjoyment would have been some high end food but I know I didn’t sign up for a food tour.Show more

  Our guide Fatih Devel and our van driver Mustafa Bostan were exceptional. As individuals or as a team they come highly recommened and I wouldnt hesitate to tell people to make a personal request for their services. Fatih's passion, knowledge and genuine love of his country took us to a whole level we didnt expect to experience. A once in a lifetime experience. One of the safest, friendliest places I have ever travelled. Book now. It will be worth it. Thank you Fatih and Mustafa for going beyond the call of duty and responsibility. You were both the real Trasures of Turkey for us.Show more

  Turkey is one of the most fascinating countries I've been to, and our guide Ugur was by far and away the most knowledgeable and exceptional I've experienced. This trip covered so much ground in two weeks, and not just the big sights but so many hidden treasures along the way - Ugur really helped us understand the political and historical context of everything we saw. The transport and accommodation was very comfortable. The day on the Fethiye near Kas was definitely a highlight. Couldn't recommend this trip or Peregrine more highly. Show more
