  Our Glories of Turkey Tour with Fez Travel was an outstanding experience from beginning to end. The itinerary provided an excellent mix of history, culture, scenery, and local experiences, allowing us to see the incredible diversity of Turkey. Highlights included the ancient ruins of Ephesus, the beautiful white terraces of Pamukkale, the unique landscapes of Cappadocia, and the fascinating history and energy of Istanbul. Every destination offered something memorable and unique. The guides were also flexible and willing to help travelers make the most of their experience. In Istanbul, I asked whether it would be possible to include a visit to the Basilica Cistern, even though it was not part of the tour itinerary. Since everyone in our group agreed they would like to go, our guide adjusted the schedule and took us there. We simply paid the entrance fee ourselves, which was completely reasonable for an optional activity. We appreciated both the guide's willingness to accommodate the request and the opportunity to experience one of Istanbul's most fascinating historic sites. Likewise, in Cappadocia, I mentioned that I was interested in riding a camel, which was not an included activity. Our guide knew exactly where to go and made sure it happened. He also arranged an evening sunset horseback ride through Cappadocia, even though it was not one of the optional activities listed by the tour. These personal touches and willingness to accommodate interests beyond the standard itinerary or operational activities added to an already excellent tour. One small regret on my part involved the historic village of Behramkale (Assos). We stopped there for lunch, and somehow I missed that this was actually the village we were meant to explore. Had I realized it at the time, I would have ventured off to wander the narrow streets rather than remaining at the lunch table. Looking back and reading more about it later, Behramkale appears to be an absolute gem and one of those authentic places that many travelers would enjoy discovering. I am disappointed to learn that Behramkale (Assos) has been removed from the 2027 and 2028 itineraries. While Pergamon is undoubtedly an impressive archaeological site, the Glories of Turkey tour already includes several extraordinary ancient cities and historical landmarks. From what I could see during our stop and what I learned afterward, Behramkale appeared to offer something different: an opportunity to experience an authentic Aegean village, wander its stone streets, and enjoy a glimpse of local life. I regret not spending more time exploring it myself, and for that reason I think it added a unique balance to an itinerary already rich in archaeological sites. One recommendation for future travelers would be to consider booking balloon rides in both Pamukkale and Cappadocia if your budget allows. Cappadocia is famous for its balloon flights, but they are highly dependent on weather conditions. Our balloon flight in Pamukkale went ahead as scheduled, while our Cappadocia flight was canceled due to weather. We were especially grateful we had chosen to fly in Pamukkale as well, as the experience was breathtaking. Floating above the stunning white terraces at sunrise was one of the highlights of the entire trip and ensured we didn't miss out on a balloon experience when Cappadocia was canceled. I would also highly recommend having your guide arrange the optional Sunset Cruise in Kuşadası. It was a relaxing and intimate experience, offering beautiful coastal views and a welcome opportunity to unwind after busy sightseeing days. It ended up being one of the most enjoyable optional activities of the trip. One aspect of Turkey that surprised me was its agricultural richness. I hadn't realized how much farming takes place across the country until we began seeing the vast agricultural areas and countless greenhouses along our route. Learning later that Turkey is the world's leading producer and exporter of hazelnuts, one of the world's largest producers of olives and olive oil, and one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world made me appreciate that side of the country even more. While the tour does an excellent job showcasing Turkey's history, culture, and natural beauty, it would also be interesting to learn a bit more about the country's agricultural heritage and production. A visit to a hazelnut farm, an olive grove with an olive oil tasting, or even a winery and wine tasting would have been enjoyable additions and another wonderful way to experience local culture. If Fez Travel ever offered an extended version of this itinerary, I think additional time in Cappadocia, Behramkale and the Aegean Coast, and Side would be especially worthwhile. An extra day in Cappadocia would provide more flexibility for weather-dependent activities such as balloon flights and additional opportunities to explore the region's remarkable landscapes. More time along the Aegean Coast would allow travelers to enjoy the area's villages, agriculture, wineries, olive groves, and coastal culture at a more relaxed pace. Likewise, an additional day in Side would provide more time to appreciate both its impressive Roman ruins and scenic seaside setting. The current tour covers an incredible amount of ground, but a longer version featuring extra time in these areas would offer an even deeper appreciation of Turkey's history, scenery, culture, and everyday life. The hotels, transportation, and transfers were all well coordinated, allowing us to relax and focus on enjoying the journey. Communication with Fez Travel before the trip was also excellent. Questions were answered promptly, and we always received timely responses, which made the planning process smooth and stress-free. The tour was well organized, and everything ran smoothly throughout our trip. Turkey exceeded our expectations with its rich history, beautiful landscapes, and warm hospitality. We returned home with wonderful memories and a much deeper appreciation of the country. We would highly recommend the Glories of Turkey Tour with Fez Travel to anyone looking for a well-planned, comprehensive, and enjoyable way to experience Turkey. The combination of iconic sites, beautiful scenery, knowledgeable guides, flexibility, responsive customer service, and seamless logistics made for an unforgettable trip.Show more
