An amazing experience! Humbled by the size of the mountains. Our guide and porters were the best - super personable and knowledgeable. Be sure to ask about their summit expeditions to various peaks in the Khumbu Valley!!! What really impressed me was their level of diligence regarding everyone's safety. AND they are the only operator to carry a PAC (portable altitude chamber). Most likely never would have to use but if i was in a life and death situation and would sure be glad i chose a company who takes this much precaution!!!

My husband and I did this trip and it absoulty blew us away! Nepal is an amazing and beautiful country. On the trip you start in Kathmandu and fly to the mountain to start your hike. Our guide was a good guy but had some alcohol issues over the hike and on several occasions drunk in excess in the villages we stayed at. On our last evening we were going to have dinner and then a small party but he arrived so drunk that he couldn't even chew the food in his mouth and made a huge mess. He became very inappropriate with the girls and several left the party because of his behaviour. However, as I mentioned the hike is just amazing and that's what we choose to remember. The porters work very hard carrying your bags and there are all kinds of interesting things to see (they didn't warn us about the Bears until we saw one though)! I would say that the trip is not good value for money, when you look at the cost of local wages/price of guest houses/flights/first aid gear etc there is still a substantial amount (40%) not going directly into your trip. If you are budget conscious it would be more economical to hire a local guide there (ie. Organise everything yourself) however if you don't really mind, then don't also forget to take along some pens/stationary/supplies for the Hillary Hospital, I'm sure they will appreciate it!

Geckos Adventures ran a fault free trekking trip for my husband and I to Everest Base Camp in March 2014. Everything was perfect except for my fitness!! I would highly recommend the trip and the experience to anyone with the love of mountains, culture and "yaks" A fantastic time had by all in our group and we have made some life long friends along the way. Perfect tick on the buscket list. Thanks Geckos and your team of hard working guids and porters. The best!
