Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding

    You'll fly from Kathmandu to Lukla airport (2810m) on a 30-minute flight with views of hills, rivers, and mountains stretching below. After meeting your porter and having breakfast in Lukla, you'll trek northward through the Dudhkoshi valley for about 3 hours. The route takes you across suspension bridges and past Kusam Kanggru mountain before reaching the tribal village of Phakding (2620m) for the night.

  2. Day 2

    Phakding to Namche Bazaar

    The trek heads to Namche Bazaar, crossing the Dudhkoshi River five times on suspension bridges decorated with colorful Buddhist prayer flags. You'll climb through Jorsale (taking about 2.5 hours from there) and enter Sagarmatha National Park where permits get verified. On clear days, Mount Everest comes into view. The full hike takes 5-6 hours to reach Namche Bazaar, the main hub of the Khumbu region.

  3. Day 3

    Acclimatization Day

    This is an acclimatization day to help your body adjust to the altitude. After breakfast, you'll climb for roughly an hour to Syangboche airstrip (3790m), then continue toward Khunde, passing century-old Chorten monuments. From there you'll head east to Khumjung for lunch, then slowly climb to Everest View Hotel for views. You'll descend back to Namche covering about 4-5 hours of walking. An optional monastery visit includes seeing the Yeti skull and the world's highest altitude bakery.

  4. Day 4

    Namche Bazaar to Dole

    The trek goes above 4000m starting with a climb to a ridge top for views of Everest and Lhotse. You'll pass vendors selling Tibetan handwork along the main trail, then follow the upward path toward Mon La Pass and Phortse. The route goes steeply through rhododendron jungles to Tonga and Gyele (3960m), then continues to Dole with views of Khumbila and Tawache (6542m) for the night.

    Dole to Machermo

    You'll climb steadily along the valley as the air gets thinner and juniper forests take over the landscape. The walk passes through summer settlements and grazing lands with views of Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku. By around noon you'll reach Machermo (4410m) and spend the rest of the day exploring this location.

  6. Day 6

    Machermo to Gokyo

    After breakfast you'll continue over the ridge with Cho Oyu rising ahead, then descend to see the Khantega gorge. Following the valley trail you'll reach Pangram (4390m), then descend to the riverside before climbing up to the glacial deposit of Ngozumpa glacier. After a higher ascent you'll arrive at Gokyo. Later you can visit and photograph the Fifth Lake before settling in for the night.

  7. Day 7

    Acclimatization and Gokyo Ri

    Early morning you'll climb Gokyo Ri peak (5463m) for outstanding views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Makalu. Afterward you'll hike to the Fifth Lake where the mountain views are even better. You'll descend back to Gokyo for another night's rest.

    Gokyo to Lungdeng

    You'll climb uphill over grassy areas with steeper slopes toward the top, where the trek becomes complex and very steep. From the top there's a panorama of Rolwaling and Tengi Ragi Tau mountains with Rermo Pokhari Lake to the west, and Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Gyachung Kang, and Gokyo lakes to the east. After trekking through Dudh Pokhari lakes you'll descend through meadows toward Bhote Koshi Valley, possibly seeing yak caravans from Tibet heading to Lungdeng for the night.

    Namche Bazaar to Lukla

    Lukla to Kathmandu

The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
