Itinerary
- Day 1
Nairobi to Maasai Mara
You'll leave Nairobi early in the morning and drive toward Maasai Mara, stopping at the Rift Valley viewpoint along the way for some nice views. After arriving at your tented camp with time to spare, you'll have lunch and then head out on your first game drive. This is when you'll start looking for the Big Five along with wildebeest and other plains game.

Landmarks Rift Valley Maasai Mara National Reserve Mara River - Day 2
Maasai Mara
This is a full day in Maasai Mara devoted to searching for the Big Five. Picnic lunches get served right in the reserve as you drive around, and you'll spend time along the Mara River. If you're interested, there are optional activities like visiting a Maasai village or taking an early morning hot air balloon safari.

Landmarks Maasai Mara National Reserve Mara River - Day 3
Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, you'll leave Maasai Mara behind and drive through the Rift Valley toward Lake Nakuru. The drive takes you through some really interesting landscape, and once you arrive, you'll see why this shallow alkaline lake draws so many visitors. The flamingo populations here are the main draw, and they really do create quite a sight. Beyond the birds, the lake functions as a solid game sanctuary where you can spot zebras, elephants, gazelles, and rhinos moving around the shoreline. If you're lucky, you might catch Rothschild's giraffes too, which don't show up in many places. You'll spend the afternoon checking out the wildlife and then head to your resort for dinner and the night.

Landmarks Lake Nakuru National Park Rift Valley - Day 4
Lake Nakuru to Nairobi
You'll spend the morning at Lake Nakuru National Park doing game drives and photographing birds. Later you'll head back toward Nairobi with lunch somewhere along the route, and you'll pass through some viewpoints of the Great Rift Valley. The drive takes you through Kikuyu farmland, and you should reach Nairobi city centre by late afternoon.
