The approximate cycling distances and elevation gains on the trip are as follows: Day 2 (Bay of Kotor): 25-30 km, elevation gain approx. 240 m Day 3 (Niksic Region): 40 km, elevation gain approx. 750 m Day 4 (Durmitor National Park): 40 km, elevation gain approx. 800 m (and 800 m descent) Day 5 (Ciro Trail to Mostar): 55 km, elevation gain approx. 220 m Day 6 (Ciro Trail): 55-60 km, elevation gain approx. 270 m Day 7 (Sarajevo Region): 25 km, elevation gain approx. 200 m (route is mostly downhill)

Day 3: Niksic - Ride: approx. 40kms/25miles, undulating terrain, with approx. 750 metres/2460ft of elevation gain. Day 4: Lake Piva & Niksic - Ride: approx. 40kms/25 miles, with a long but gradual climb for the first 25kms. Elevation gain is approx.1070 metres/3500ft. Day 5: Mostar - Ride: approx. 55kms/34 miles, mostly flat with a few small climbs, with approx. 220 metres/720ft of elevation gain. Day 6: Mostar - Ride: approx 55-60kms/34-37 miles, undulating with approx. 270m/885ft of elevation gain. Day 7: Sarajevo - Ride: approx. 30 kms/18 miles, mostly downhill with approx. 200 metres/650ft of elevation gain.

I had a fantastic trip through the Balkans. It was a great mix of history, culture, scenic sights and leisure activities. The early days included some heavy content about the war in Yugoslavia, which was later balanced with more of a fun holiday vibe. And we had lots of free time to explore for ourselves. Kudos also to our tour leader Mia, whose passion for her country and its history were infectious. And she didn't mind socialising with the group after a long day. Part of our wonderful journey is thanks to her, as well as the local tour guides who also did a great job. The reason why I didn't give five stars was down to two issues. The hammam in Sarajevo that was recommended to me turned out to be very basic, and wouldn't even provide a peeling session due to water shortage. Overall it was a rather disappointing experience. The second incident happened in one of the vans we travelled with. It had a faulty exhaust pipe which caused gases to enter the inside of the van. With windows opened and full ventilation on we could manage, and Mia's offer to have the van exchanged halfway was not taken up as no one was badly affected. But it appeared that the driver had been aware of the defect, so he should never have used that vehicle in the first place. Other than those minor glitches the tour was a great and educative experience, and I would definitely recommend it.Show more

  There is a support vehicle which follows the group on all our cycling tours. This vehicle will follow behind the group. Riders can stop cycling at any time and choose to ride in the vehicle for any part of the day or all day if preferred!
